Nice atmosphere and fast service with a pretty good sized menu with varied options. Coffee drink was good and well prepared and the breakfast burrito was huge and bursting with flavor. The super biscuits and gravy had good flavor, but the biscuits were hard as a rock even under the gravy and I struggled to cut them or chew them. What Cathy Cartwright doesn't like about Cafe 222-casual Concept:
morning breakfast for the stay in san diego in the cafe 222 well outside on the tables reminded me of my time in italien. the coffee was very nice. now the waffel was a beautiful waffel, the rührei was ok the sausage was not a good cheap blande and probably frozen microwave from a box. the sirup was cheap, not really maple syrup, which I am used to in the middle west. but the hopeful and relaxing feeling was amazing... The super biscuits and gravy had good flavor, but the biscuits were hard as a rock even under the gravy and I struggled to cut them or chew them. The peanut butter and banana stuffed French toast was tasty, but not presented particularly well, and didn’t quite live up to all the hype on the menu. Overall a good breakfast spot, and hopefully just an off day on the few misses.
Excellent breakfast spot. A small privately owned restaurant that has a great feel and delicious, freshly cooked good. I visited to breakfast and enjoyed it very much.
We were looking for a breakfast place to eat and walk around downtown San Diego and found this right on our walking route. It is right of the main Gas Lamps District downtown and easy walk to Seaport Village Convention Center. Waiting time was 30 minutes and we had a nice table outside. I ordered the Hash Eggs with sourdough toast. The Hash was really good and had nice sized pieces of potatoes cooked into the hash. The Waffle was way under cooked cold and doughy inside. Nothing special here so we won't order that again. Food is pricey for the amount you get still very convenient to the Downtown harbour and the San Diego sites.
We just had an amazing meal at Cafe 222! Our food and service were all excellent. We will definitely return and recommend to everyone! The pancakes are huge so you may have to share!
Hands down the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. The skillet potatoes were perfectly seasoned and really delicious. The staff was really working hard they were a well oiled machine, from the hostess to the back of the house. Our best meal for the trip to Comic Con Special Edition. Cute eclectic place on the corner in the Gaslamp District. Loved it!!
