Was Jadyn Erdman at Gintei a mag?
This sushi is truly on par with what you'd find in Japan. The fish is incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. Gintei is a charming little gem that feels just like being back in Japan. View all feedback.
What Donna Erdman dislikes about Gintei:
I got food poisoning at Gintei and spent my entire birthday evening throwing up. I won’t be coming back—thanks for ruining my special day with an $80 omakase. View all feedback.
There's not to many good places for sushi during lunch. Found this place on Yelp. Wasn't busy but I still enjoyed the food. Everything was good and the service wasn't bad too. One best thing I enjoyed the chef said was when I ask if they had Hokkaido uni was that's the only type of uni we carry They were very nice both the server and sushi chef. We sat at the bar for the full experience. The only 3 complaints I have was 1st it isn't cheap but the quality was fresh so you get what you paid for. Amami gives you good quality Omakase for $35 vs $90 here. Next was the barracuda kamasu sushi was good but salty. It would be great if the salt topping was tone down by half. Last was the Omakase didn't include some kind of toro or uni which most places for the price 90 for 10 piece) usually should include one or the other like hinata, amami, wako, sasa etc. would I come by? Maybe, depending on my budget and if it's lunch time. For my gf not so much. Overall, despite what my gf said I still enjoyed it and rate 4. Maybe my gf taste is off today or she of course had better sushi for the price like at amami and hakashi. In the end I wish this business the best. Oh yeah, we also ordered appetizers ankimo(so good must order), 2 oysters (must order), 2 oyster shooter(I liked it but not so my gf) and with the omakase it came up to around $275 tip not included for 2. I'll let you all judge base of my photos and review if you think it's worth it.
First timer. Didn't make a reservation but fortunately they had a spot for 2 opened for about an hour. We ordered the Omakase and some rolls. The Omakase was amazing. I think my favorite is the otoro and the shrimp. The shrimp one had similar texture and sweetness as scallops but slight chewier/bouncier. The miso soup has a light flavor perfect to start your meal Only downside of this place was trying to find a parking on el Camino during traffic hours
This place is pricy, but it's really gd. I recommend it to all upscalers, you would love this little gem. Awesome soup, and plenty of specialties.
Excellent quality. We came here for lunch today on a Thursday and it was not packed; no need for a reservation. I spent a good 10 minutes trying to find parking behind el camino real though. The lunch specials were excellent. The menu is simple andelegant. The interior decor reminds me of when I was studying abroad in Japan. And the rice and ginger are excellent quality, and of course, the sashimi. Definitely worth it for lunch! Great service too.
Wow! I felt like I was back in Tokyo. The fish was so fresh and sweet. It was a delight. The tempura was light and crispy. The miso soup was flavorful. It was beautifully plated too; as is the Japanese way. It wasn't cheap but it was the best sushi I'vehad since Tokyo. It brought back lovely memories. We'll definitely be going back, even though it's an hour from home.
