What JaneB dislikes about The Progress:
The cocktail called The Remedy was delicious and so was the caviar mashed potato appetizer. The duck was also amazing as were the beignets and the the apple sorbet. The prices seemed outrageous however with the duck having a price tag of $75.00 and the caviar potato dish which was about 2 ozs was $18.00 a pop. View all feedback.

What a spot. The anchovies are the star of the show, but a wide selection of small plates (tapas style) and a strong selection of oysters and other cold dishes makes for an awesome menu. Great wines and beers on the menu to compliment the food. The onlydownside is that they don’t have a full bar, so the cocktail options are very limited.
Highlight dinner from our trip. My wife and I are from New Orleans and know good food and a proper dining experience. This place had it all. The food, drinks, atmosphere, wait staff and architecture were all excellent. The only thing that could have beenbetter was the pace of the food. It wasn?t paced consistently but not enough to drop it a star. Would 100% reccomend and goback.
The food at The Progress had the most unique flavor combinations and dishes that I have ever tried. The presentation was stunning and the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. They made sure weordered enough food to get full since the portions are generally on the smaller side. My favorites were the caviar potato cloudand the masa dumplings. It is a pricier restaurant but well worth the experience.
I wanted to love this place because I adore the ambiance, the drinks and the service, but the food is just kind of average. The duck is a wow, and we liked the seaweed noodles, but everything else we ordered was just average. This is one of those placeswhere the food sounds innovative and fresh but in reality the ingredients just don?t work that well together and they end upjust tasting kind of bland. The portions are incredibly small too. With the four of us, we pretty got one bite per person fromeach dish except the half duck which had huge portions. We ordered: half duck: recommend! seaweed noodles: very unique andpretty tasty potatoes with nori: good crispy tofu: meh, pretty underwhelming dumplings: not good halibut: very average tempura: very bland We also went to the sister restaurant State Bird Provisions a few years back and didn?t like it.
The food was pretty good, a nice balance of flavours, but it felt like it was lacking some complexity that other restaurants have. Our server also gave off a strong impression that we were inconveniencing him by asking questions or adding extra foodinto our order part way through the night. I'm sure it complicated his evening, and I'm sorry for that but the eye rolls, andstanding next to our table sighing and tapping his foot made for a very uncomfortable experience. Overall, the meal was decent, but not Michelin guide worthy. I would recommend looking for something else.

One my favorite spots to have a really delicious meal and perfectly selected wine. Happy to have a place like this local. All of the anchovy dishes are craveable and well balanced. A must try if you haven’t already.
Very unique ideas and flavors re anchovies and other dishes- the anchovies were fresh and did not taste the way you’d expect But you pay for the originality of the dishes- share your plates
We took our parents to celebrate 63 years of nuptial bliss. The wait staff went above and beyond to help celebrate my parents wedding anniversary. Truly special night. If you give the restaurant advance notice I am certain you will receive similar service. And it’s anchovy season!
Incredible meal start to finish. That anchovy toast in particular was life changing 10/10. Easily one of my favorite restaurants

Fantastic restaurant! I went there for dinner and tried the famous duck, which did not disappoint! The service was excellent, and the ambiance was wonderful as well.
I really wish this restaurant was in my neighborhood! The innovative and intriguing cuisine comes with a stylish presentation. Every dish we tried was outstanding. Everything except the potato was a great portion for sharing. The service was impeccable and perfectly timed, ensuring we made it to the concert next door on schedule. I highly recommend this place—be sure to make a reservation to make things easier for everyone!

Unique aromas. Portion is well designed. We follow the proposal ordered a small bite, a vegetable, a dish and a dish for two people. Service is great. Reservation required.
The Progress was my first Californian experience, and it was great. I loved the atmosphere of the place, and the food was great. It is a bit hard to find parking, but other than that, the place is highly recommended
One of our favorite restaurants in SF. Highly creative and flavorful cuisine that blow your mind. The portions are not huge but that’s because there’s so much thought and effort put into each dish, which you can taste! Delicious cocktails as well, fun sitting at the bar. Thanks and we’ll be back soon!
What a hoot. The philosophy behind the menu is interesting in creating a progression through the meal. The menu was light and small plates made it a great social sharing vibe. Our server recommended an excellent bottle of wine and was extremely personable and attentive. Overall, a great experience. Look at the fun dipping salad pic tho.

I took out 1 star because I thought that some of the servings were a little small to share, as its name Anchovy Bar I was hoping for this salty anchovy flavor perhaps in a salad or somewhere. Overall this place is great
Like the food from the refrigerator door, just much better. Great food/people/spot.
Everything was a total dream! I had the best time and the best meal. This meal makes you feel fancy and elegant and worldly. Everything was a smash, I would recommend it to anyone anywhere all at once.
The food here is so good! I just love the anchovy plate as well as all the fresh seafood. The wine list is interesting and I always get to try new wines I haven’t seen that pair beautifully with the food.
