good experience. The only major complaint was that my steak sandwich was overcooked for my taste. I decided not to send it back but they would have easily revised it. View all feedback.
What Name Bechtelar doesn't like about Rustic Root:
The ambience was decent and the staff was good. Other than that, I can't say anything positive about this place. Our meals were lukewarm, mixed and some of the sides had no taste at all. While they have a bar and their own cocktails, if you ask for something that is not on the menu, you probably won't get it. And yes, unfortunately, even the cocktail drinks we ordered tasted awful. Bad bar staff. It also took them al... View all feedback.
The food at this restaurant is quite good, with only a few small complaints. However, the service is fantastic! I particularly enjoyed the aesthetic of the place. We sat on the roof where the vibe was great thanks to the music. There was no waiting time for brunch, which was a plus. I ordered the Kale Caesar Salad with Chicken, which exceeded my expectations. The baby kale, shaved parmesan, roasted tomatoes, pine nuts, sourdough crackers, and Caesar dressing all came together beautifully. The chicken was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. The addition of roasted tomatoes added a nice touch to the salad. The homemade Caesar dressing was creamy and delicious. The server even brought me an extra side salad at no cost, which was a nice surprise. The only complaint I had was that the sourdough crackers were overly oily. My husband ordered the Greek chicken wrap and loved it. He was impressed by how well all the flavors complemented each other. The hummus in the wrap was also very tasty. He opted for a side salad instead of potatoes or fries, which was a good choice. Overall, the service was excellent and the food was enjoyable, with a few minor issues. My husband also enjoyed the Passport (Pineapple Passionfruit Hard Cider) as his drink choice.
The restaurant has a lively atmosphere. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the spicy salmon dish, which was delicious and light. However, I wasn't a fan of the appetizer, the heirloom tomato burrata. The cheese was lacking flavor and left me wanting more.
What an experience. I must have my first espresso martini here, and it was absolutely one of the best things I got. We have a handful of apps and from what I can remember, the Pork Belly was the best we ate in a long time, highly recommended to get a roof seat on this place
We waited for a roof top table, even when the main dining area was basically empty and were happy to wait for ten minutes, the vibe was great and service dynamics. The food came quickly after the order, a little too fast. Large selection of drinks and appetizers, but I would prefer a few more meat and poultry options for the Entrees selection. The appetizers are generous, we ordered the spicy shrimps, burrata and Mac and cheese. It hit the spot. The appetizers met us until a few of us shared a gut. The fried chicken was moist and tasty, so the scallops with cauliflower and the lobster pasta were. Total good experience.
Hipster/rustic type vibe with fusion food but it works. They have many classics as well as twists on originals. Drinks are good and the desserts are to die for. Live music and efficient but friendly waitstaff. Smack in the middle of the gaslamp quarter.
