Loud and alive for lunch. Reservations were probably a good idea, but there were places. Ambience is okay, but definitely noisy. Sushi is pretty solid. Had something nitrile and a role. Try the golden eyes Snapper, Uni and Toro. Rolls are good, but a bit on the big side circumference wise. Friendly chefs, but a little understated at the moment when it comes to waiters. In vain for lunch, but could be a problem at din... View all feedback.
What D V doesn't like about Hane Sushi San Diego:
The service is not great. I had a phone order to go and was on hold for over 20 minutes. I literally got to the restaurant and was still on the phone when I got there. This is how busy they were. (See photo). Bad first impression experience.Food was outstanding. But it’s hard to make up for the bad first impression. Maybe get more competent front door staff. View all feedback.
If you plan on dining here, it's best to make reservations in advance. Luckily, we were able to snag a spot at the bar. However, the menus were a bit confusing and poorly written. I suggest they update their menus for a more enjoyable dining experience. The decor on the walls was a bit hard to navigate, and I ended up ordering something different than I expected. Nonetheless, the rolls were delicious and beautifully presented. The drinks, bartender, and overall bar atmosphere were fantastic. The chefs were entertaining, but the show wasn't anything spectacular. The ambiance was a bit dull, boring, and felt too clinical. I recommend trying a livelier spot. Parking was a challenge, but we were lucky to find a spot quickly. The hostess was welcoming, but the exterior of the restaurant was unimpressive. Overall, I would give this place a rating between 3.0 to 3.4. The highlight of our visit was definitely the bar area.
Japanese sushi done the right way, chef lineage of Ota. No comparisons, the best.
Our go-to sushi spot! The friendliest staff and most consistently great sushi in SD.
Go see Taka... He is legit! He did an Omakase for me and it was superb.
The food and service at this restaurant were fantastic! Don't miss out on trying the Nodoguro, it's absolutely delicious.
