What Esther Castellanos doesn't like about Fuji Sukiyaki:
Came here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. They had a large menu. Ordered a bento box and some rolls. The rolls were large, but they use a lot of mayo with the imitation crab. The sauce that was used tasted funny. They used the same sauce that was on the lion king roll on my salad in the bento box; I couldn’t eat the salad. Salad wasn’t fresh. Fish was definitely not fresh. I left with my stomach feeling unsettled a... View all feedback.
Solid sushi spot in San Mateo! I usually go here for to go on the weekends and the service is quick. I love getting the Honolulu Roll with Gyoza or Seaweed Salad. There's a good amount of seating indoors and is located in downtown San Mateo with several other food options as well!
The rolls are delicious. Honey Roll is my fav, Lion King is really good as well!! Service is great and delivery is fast

I came here for lunch on a Saturday and we were able to order our food and get it in a reasonable amount of time. They had a pretty good variety of food to choose from. I thought our waitress was nice and she gave us time to look over the menu seeing as how it was our first timWe got sushi rolls, a bento box, and sukiyaki. I would say that the sukiyaki was okay, but it wasn't good or bad, so it was just okay. The sushi rolls were pretty good. If I was to come back I would definitely try some of their other sushi rolls and other food items.
The first thing I check out in Japanese restaurants is it authentic Japanese owners or employees working there. They were not Japanese, so not authentic. I was craving sukiyaki- they did have it I was sure since it is part of their business name! It was ok- mushrooms were good, with bean thread cellophane noodles, beef was a bit large. I would say 2.8 stars.Sushi rolls were a big portion. It was just ok sushi for me- Lion King rolls are my go-to and I think if they baked it more with browned edges would be tastier. The other roll had tempura and crab and was good as well.Tonkatsu was 3.0 average with tonkatsu sauce. You could taste the Worcestershire sauce in this sauce. I have said before that I like the Kikkoman tonkatsu sauce-much better! Tempura was tasty and crunchy. It soon filled up after we got there on a Friday night, so it seemed popular. It gives you big rolls for a decent price. Service was fine. Actually price for 4 and one kid was decent, especially for Japanese food. Only downside was one soup spoon and bowl they brought out to us was still dirty with food stuck on it which makes me question the cleanliness of the rest of my dishes and utensils- eeewww! Overall, I give the food a 2.8 and in general, accounting for everything is probably a 2.8 rounded to 3 stars. Just okay....
