What HiTrevor doesn't like about Chalet Thai:
Chalet Thaï has been here for many years. The food is of a high quality and service is very good. Gréât location also. When it first opened the food was spicy and tasty. Good Thai food for Canada. But in recent years it is simply no longer Thai. More Chinese. The red curry has no spiciness at all. Even if you ask for it. The garlic and pepper shrimp bears no resemblance to the Thai dish. They assured us EVERYTHING on the menu was gluten free except for the desserts. Unfortunately, we feel that they are not educated enough about gluten to make such a statement. For example, when we asked them more about the ingredients in their dumplings, they told us they buy them at the asian grocery store on Des Sources and that the ingredient list doesn't show gluten. Well, well... first, that grocery store doesn't have gluten free dumplings. Second, it seems like it might be honest mistakes: they simply read the ingredient list and if they don't read the word gluten they feel it's safe. Nevertheless, they seem to forget to watch out for wheat, barley, etc. and the many other ingredients that contain gluten without saying the word gluten specifically. When we asked to read the ingredients on the dumpling box just to make sure and team work with them, they said they had thrown away the box already... Same thing for their sauces... They lost our trust. Too bad because we were very happy when we thought we had found a good GF thai.
They have no idea what gluten or gluten free is. Came for lunch. If you're up for the risk didn't get sick. Sorry to the last reviewer but you're review is now out of date.
They understand gluten issues. Only rice flour is used.

But in recent years it is simply no longer Thai. More Chinese. The red curry has no spiciness at all. Even if you ask for it. The garlic and pepper shrimp bears no resemblance to the Thai dish. No garlic taste and just a small sprinkle of pepper. The genuine Thai dish has a massive explosion of taste. Unfortunately much too bland and very disappointing.
Been going to this restaurant for many years. Always fresh, well prepared food and excellent service. Highly recommended!
