I don't understand how this place can be rated 4.5 stars based on food. Our bartender was great, the guacamole really good, but the tacos are truly sub par. I mean WAY sub par. Pastor dry. Short ribs flavorless. Ground beef bland. And they are pricey $5 $6 each and stingy portions for the price. My companion had chicken fajitas it was OK, nothing special, but again, pricey. I just ordered lunch. The food is amazingly delicious. Ordered fish tacos and veggie nachos. Tacos were fabulous....big sauce and corn tortillas were great. The cheese dip was super tasty and toddler (times two approved! : . Mexican corn... on Par! Lovely that we were able to buy Margarita mix to make some at home, and they were delicious! Thanks, the recipe was included! The staff was exceptional....our food in our car when it's finished. Even the portions were ridiculous! We have at least one more meal for two adults and two children. Thank you, La Plancha! We'll be back on this trip to SSI, and every trip goes forward!
YUM LaPlancha features a burger and wings theme for game nights. I ordered the smash burger to go for my family, and let me tell you, it was amazing! The burger came with a spicy salsa/mayo sauce and crispy home fries, all served on a fresh bun. I'd definitely order it again, five times over. I also enjoyed a skinny margarita while visiting with a friend for takeout. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the short rib taco—it's a true labor of love with the slow-cooked attention it receives. I hadn't been in a while, but after visiting twice recently, I remember exactly why I need to go back soon. This place is definitely not your average Mexican restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor seating available!
The large salsa and queso are indeed quite generous in size. I ordered the burrito without sour cream, but it only contained rice and shrimp, with perhaps a little cheese.
This is not your average Mexican restaurant. The salsa is tasty—slightly sweet and not too spicy, yet it complements the dishes perfectly. I ordered the rib burrito, and it was fantastic. The beef was tender, and the flavors blended beautifully. The quesadillas also looked amazing, and my dining companions who had them assured me they were just as good. I highly recommend this place!
