Got to the restaurant entrance and when I couldn't see where the road went due to the steepness of it I left the car at the top. We were able to sit outside with a fantastic view of St Paul de Vence, there was anti midge spray supplied and we did not get too badly bitten. Food was fresh and not overly fancy. Well worth a visit View all feedback.
This is a wonderful place. You park on the road and descend 100 metres or so down a vertiginous drive to tables laid out under the trees, lit by oil lamps, so that it feels like a magical grotto. Some tables have a great view out to St Paul from a small terrace. There is also an indoor area which does not look much like the web site much more charming. The owner has Scandinavian parents: hence the speciality of home smoked trout, which is truly delicious. The menu is small, and gives little choice, but that was fine by us: we enjoyed it all. Delicious rose to wash it down. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed a very special evening. This place is unique.
On 22 July 2018 we enjoyed a family dinner with four at the La Brouette restaurant in St Paul de Vence. We were warmly welcomed by the patron in his relatevely small and hence very cosy! restaurant and enjoyed a very nice dinner on the garden terrace. We opted for the 33 Euro per person formulae. The menu consisted of starters with margret de canard, terrine de foie, saumon mariné and of a choice of main dishes: truite fumé au feu de bois, danish fricadelles meat or chicken émincé de poulet . With our party of 4 we tasted all three main dishes that were excellent. As dessert we opted for the chocomousse of white chocolat with speculoos , the pêche and the pannacota with abricots. Everything was well prepared and served with a smile! The wine menu is limited but well chosen. We had a Bourgogne alligoté that accompanied the dishes very well. In total we paid 45 Euro pp which is an extremely excellent quality price ratio! We will certainly return to La Brouette!
We spent a beautiful evening at this lovely restaurant on the day of the embrasement of st Paul de Vence. It was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks over the town! The food was delicious (you have to try the smoked trout! And the service super nice. It is a real family affair and we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it for an authentic evening in the French countryside!
Well, not sure what we were expecting, but it was well worth the trip, a taxi was expensive, so recommend driving. The restaurant is quirky, set beyond the town of St Paul de Vence. It's located at the bottom of a steep driveway, through a pathway into the back garden of the owners house!. We had a table with the most beautiful view (would've been even better, had they trimmed an overgrown bush). The food was very tasty. Really enjoyed it.
A small but exquisite menu, very fairly priced. The dishes were somewhat unusual for the area (strong Danish influence), a very much welcomed change. The portions were very generous. Between the seven of us we tried everything on the menu and loved all dishes. I'd definitely recommend the marinated salmon, the smoked trout and the fruity deserts (peaches or apricots). The veal was very tasty as well. Small but good wine selection. Tasty kids menu available. The service was attentive and very friendly. Lovely setting as well with plenty of outdoor space so you almost feel in your own private garden. Not many tables so probably best booking ahead. English spoken.
