Auberge des Deux Fourches

My Wife and I arrived on a Sunday evening and found this place quite by chance, it seemed to be the only local eatery open, so we took a chance and we were pleasantly surprised. My Wife is vegetarian which presents plenty of challenges in France, as she doesn't eat meat or fish but the lady serving managed to conjure up a starter of cheese from the buffet, followed by a goats cheese tart for main course and the dessert was again from the buffet. My starter was all seafood from the buffet, my main was a fish dish "plate de jour" and I also finished with a buffet dessert. With wine and a beer, this all came to 41 Euros, very reasonable, as it was just round the corner from our accommodation.

Had to stop at a nearby garage , as it was almost midday we decided to try this small auberges restaurant,we were very pleased , had two 15 euro meals,buffet main course and dessert served by a friendly lady in simple but comfortable surroundings,we would say good French fare and if we find the time will stop there again.

Et oui il ne faudra pas s'attendre à de la grande cuisine ! (C'est une auberge) Mais la formule affaire sera très plaisante. Buffet d'entrées/plat du jour (ou faux filet ou saumon)/Buffet de desserts. 17€. De quoi s'en mettre plein la panse. Certes, il ne s'agira pas là de grande qualité mais au moins vous ressortirez sans avoir faim. Le faux filet n'est pas à conseiller car il est effectivement très fin. Dans les buffets il y a un choix suffisamment important. Entrée : Des crustacés/charcuterie/crudités Dessert : Mousse au chocolat/Flans/pâtisseries. De quoi satisfaire tout le monde. Le service est très bon et on veillera à ce que vous ne manquiez de rien.

Cadre agréable et bonne cuisine. Grand choix de buffet toujours très frais! Nous y allons très souvent en revenant de la Rochelle.

Nous y sommes allés deux fois mais la seconde fois moins bon.la première fois excellent. Produits frais avec un buffet hors d oeuvre frais et bien achalandé. Service un peu long . Plats la seconde fois ((langue servie sans sauce) et viande coupée ultra mince. Dommage que la qualité ne soit pas toujours au rendez vous.Cadre agréable surtout a côté de la,cheminée.
