I have visited Roy's quite a few times. Fresh cut fries, yummy seafood, creamy coleslaw, flavourful chowder, and all for a good price. I have had their fish and chips, chowder, lobster roll, and scallops and fries. The scallops are my favourite, but there is lots of love in this restaurant. The owner is responsive to customers likes and dislikes and shows pride over his clean kitchen. Often, he has given us a peek at... View all feedback.

I did a take out lunch today of fish cakes and beans. I think this is a Saturday/Sunday only item. The fish cakes were the typical ones made with flaked white fish and mashed potatoes. The beans were obviously made in house the old fashioned way with molasses and salt pork. The order consists of 2 large fish cakes and about 1 cup of beans -- a substantial lunch for $8.95 plus tax and tip. View all feedback.
Above average seafood platter. Hand cut French fries were excellent, batter was light and flavorful. Roy provided excellent company while i waited and also excellent tourist advice for this wandering American. Trip Advisor is what brought me here at first but I'll be back. especially since i missed the chowder this time and heard it's great..
We are here visiting family. We decided to go for fish and chips so family suggested Roy's. It is a small place in a small plaza and not fancy in any way. Plastic forks etc but the food was great. The seafood is mostly deep-fried but not greasy. The atmosphere is like you are in Roy's kitchen at home and he is preparing the food. Friendly and homey. We changed our minds about the fish so my Dad ordered seafood chowder. He is very fussy about his chowder but his review was that he really liked it and would order it again. He lives here so I expect that will happen. Mom ordered scallops and shrimp. She loved that as well. I had the clams and a lobster roll. The clams were the largest clams I can remember ever having. The batter on both the clams and the scallops was light and delicious. The fries were fresh cut and very good. There are fancier places to have a feed of chowder, clams, scallops, shrimp, etc but I have yet to experience one with better food. I paid the bill and it was very acceptable. I get to Saint John 3 or 4 times a year and will definitely be back.

My husband and i were driving around St John late in the evening looking for a place to eat and just as we were turning around we spotted Roy's Seafood and Grill. It is a small diner in a small plaza, and hardly noticeable but we were pleasantly surprised. Roy, the owner and cook served up some fresh homemade fries, a really creamy great tasting chowder and best of all were the scallops. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount and size of the scallops. The place is clean and the prices were reasonable. One has to overlook the plastic cutlery and the fast food baskets because the food, the prices, and friendly service makes up for it. Roy, told us some of the history of the area and how he got started. As Ontario travellers looking for some East Coast Seafood i would have to say Roy's was a highlight for us.
Plastic cutlery, meals are served in a take out containers. Dishes are overloaded with fries and not seafood.
