excellent quality for the price. we took the bark melt and the Schellfisch-Tacos and both were very delicious. the children had fish and chips and they liked it. the homemade tartaric acid sauce is very good. the personal is very friendly. not the best service when we went. we sat on the harbour side terrace to benefit from the late day sun. the service was slow, although the terrace was quiet. When our food arrived, we didn't get side plates or cutlery. we had to ask and we wanted salt, pepper and vinegar. we waited 5-7 minutes to season our meals and ended to get it. beer selection is great and eating is good. We visited Chop Chop for the first time tonight and had an amazing experience! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I absolutely loved the hushpuppies and hope they become a regular menu item - I'll be dreaming about them tonight! The grilled asparagus was also fantastic, now I want to grill mine all the time. I tried some of my husband's bacon fig jam and it was delicious. He really enjoyed the tiramisu, although he joked about wanting to lick the mason jar clean. Thank you for a wonderful meal, we will definitely be returning!
When a new restaurant or pub opens, there are often problems with computer systems and staff training. However, Gahans in SJ was an exception. A group of us went there on their opening day and were impressed by the great atmosphere, fantastic beer, and amazing staff. They were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had a great experience. The food at Gahan was delicious! This new restaurant in the uptown Saint John area is a great addition. My husband and I went on a date there on a busy Saturday night, but we only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The prices were extremely reasonable compared to what we would pay in Toronto - probably well over $100 for the same meal. The oysters were fresh and beautifully presented. My husband enjoyed a burger with onion rings and beer, while I opted for the Gahan tacos. The tacos were incredibly filling and had a great kick from the cajun steak and guacamole, which tasted freshly prepared. The atmosphere was great and the food was fantastic!
We have been twice since they opened. Both times did not disappoint. Great food, great staff and a nice environment. We were with a group both times and one order came out not quite perfect. It was replaced quickly and courteously. Will definitely go back.
I highly recommend this restaurant for its delicious food and excellent service from the staff. While the prices can be a bit high, the quality of the food makes it worth it. It's a perfect spot for gatherings or family meals. I would especially recommend it to anyone visiting town. I have never been disappointed at this restaurant.
