The restaurant is accessible via the casino entrance, but you do not have to register for the casino. They offer a nice package with a three-course hall with two glasses of wine and coffee as well as gambling coupons for all their slot machines...for a very competitive price. Even if you are not gamble the price is still competitive with the other restaurants in St. Jean de Luz. Service was friendly and fast, the din... View all feedback.
What Étienne Blin doesn't like about Comptoir JOA:
This venue doesn't really know what it wants to be. The terrace could be good during the day, but it was a chilly evening so we ate inside. Inside it looks part bar, part resto and part nightclub. The food was only OK, but the atmosphere was pretty sterile. Reminded me of the grim seaside restos in the UK. A great positon overlooking the beach wasted. View all feedback.
A terrible service. Worst Steak I remember. This is medium rare incase u wondered. I couldn't get out fast enough. Too bad.
Good location with a really beautiful view. Staff don't seem to like foreigners, but they were INCREDIBLY stunning and mostly ignored if you weren't French. Give 1 star since we ordered food and drinks and wait for more than 2 hours. When we asked... about them they were very rude and the food came cold. No one ate more than half of their order (we were 8) and it was not busy at all.
We made a booking for a sea view table on the same day at 12 noon. Soon as we arrived, the booking was made for the next day, so of course they were not a table with sea views. Generally, the food is good, but the service is terrible. We order a bottle of wine no one ask us to taste) they put the bottle on the table, during dinner no one disturbs to check if everything is okay. I'm not talking about the waiter who falls on the floor with his tray. Although the food is good, the service is sooo sooo bad that you feel the experience was bad.
Beautiful restaurant brimming with old-world charm! Cozy and spacious, and a lovely patio for the warm weather.
