We were recommended La Brouillarta by our Hotel and what a great suggestion it was.Food was inventive and that little bit different and well worth the €38 for 3 courses compared to other places we've dined at.Good wine list ,excellent service and the restaurant being right on the sea-front made for a fantastic evening. What Thibault Chartier doesn't like about Le Brouillarta:
We dined here because it received such high ratings and it was convenient to our hotel (Hôtel de La Plage). The meal was not memorable. Staff were a bit brusque and stretched thin attending to all the tables. In addition it is expensive. I expected much more. View all feedback.
While staying at Hotel de la Plage we decided to try their restaurant which is situated underneath the hotel with a separate entrance off the promenade, we found Le Brouillarta to be absolutely outstanding. The Venezuelan Maitre d’ Fernando was first class and led us through the menu and wine list with patience and friendliness. The waitresses seemed a little ill at ease at times but were smiling and very pleasant. The 5 course “Surprise” Menu is a joy which you just don’t want to finish such is the quality and presentation.Prices are extremely reasonable for such a high standard. The chef / proprietor Guillaume Roget should be recognised for such outstanding fayre, Michelin should definitely take a look!

Everything from my poached cod starter, to the wonderful desert and including my main dish of merlu with lemon risotto cooked to perfection was very satisfactory. The atmosphere is elegant without being stuffy.Don't forget to book. I saw many people trying in vain to get a table.
This is a small unique restaurant. We had the "surprise" menu, which was a 5 course tasting menu. Each course tasted wonderful, and the presentation was beautiful. This is a leisurely meal, but enjoy the beautiful sunset over the sea. This is a must stop in Saint Jean de Luz.
Had previously read good reviews on this restaurant and so made an evening booking - so pleased we did.The seafront view was perfect and made better for the beautiful evening sun. The service we received was excellent, friendly helpful and informed. The food was fantastic - the turbot special for the day was as good as any I have tasted anywhere. Wine list was very good - other restaurants we ate at locally had fairly restricted menus but this was great and we found a very good burgundy. Finished the meal with delicious desserts (I still can't believe just how good the whisky ice cream was) and finally with an Armagnac.Perfect evening and would thoroughly recommend.
