This is a small family owned Vietnamese restaurant specializing in Vietnamese soup. Staff are sympathetic. The food is good, with a very reasonable price. The portion is kind of too big. View all feedback.
What Khai Nguyen doesn't like about Tu Thanh:
Restaurants should not put raw vegetables and meat together. I bought half a duck and put it in the refrigerator. When I had breakfast in the morning, the duck was slimy and smelly because the raw vegetables were also waterlogged and smelly! Shop should not put vegetables and meat in the same box! I bought half a duck planning to save it for next morning, this morning to find out they put vegetables and duck in the s... View all feedback.
My family love duck meat. Bun mang vit this place good. Now They have Great Corn milk
As I type this, I can taste the spices that make this cuisine unforgettable! Treat yourself ASAP if you enjoy citrus flavors accented by lemon grass, chili, and other jump-at-you spices! Ask for medium spice so as not to be overwhelmed by the fire! ... or not!
We were visiting from Florida and had to return to this place. One of our favorite hidden gems in San Diego. We have yet to see a bamboo duck soup sold at other South Eastern Asian/Vietnamese restaurants. The salad and light dressing is also a plus. We saw that they added dessert on their menu; so we also gave both the coconut jelly and yogurt a try. The yogurt is tangy/tart-like; while the jelly was fairly sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. We will definitely come back whenever back visiting this town.
This restaurant is the best restaurant with the best food such as Bun Mang Vit, and Chao Vit. And the restaurant owner is a very kind lady.
I love this place! The bun rieu comes in huge bowl and is delicious. Veggies are fresh and food comes out fast. It's also super affordable.
