Doubletree By Hilton - S San Diego

This place is pretty bad. The elevators don’t work, our shower didn’t work, our chair have many stains, the beds are bad and so are the pillows. I stayed here for free for work and I will never stay here again! I can’t get out of the hotel because both elevators are broken and we have luggage. No one answers the phones!

Elevator is out of service. Inadequate stairs. No excuse for a major hotel.

Room was clean. Front desk upon arrival was sweet and kind. All doubletree chains offer the cookies which were tasty. The restaraunt staff were SUPER unfriendly and unhelpful. I had 3 coupons for breakfast, I went down before my other 2 people were awake to have coffee until they woke up- and was met with an angry couple ladies who were refusing to give me coffee to sit in the lobby and wait for the other 2 guests who were with me. Hurting no one, I just poured a cup of coffee and sat down- not thinking anything of this BECAUSE IT IS NOT POSTED ANYWHERE YOU CANT TAKE ANYTHING TO GO FROM THIS PLACE. So, not only can you not have ANY OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK IN ANY PUBLIC SPACE while the restaurant is open, but you can't take your items from the breakfast with you. But like I said, this is not posted anywhere. I tried to take a muffin to my sister who is upstairs in our room, and was told I had to THROW IT AWAY. I had a voucher for this muffin/breakfast. And had to throw the da*n thing away because I couldn't take it with me. $200/night for a room and i cant take a muffin to the other member of my party. And the woman was SO RUDE. If there is no sign stating you cannot take thing to go, not even a muffin- that I could hold in my hand, I should have been able to take it. Especially since it was GOING IN THE TRASH AFTER I TOUCHED IT. Just seems incredibly wasteful. Also, due to health hazzards, both hot tubs were closed. The fridge in our room was leaking and wet all around it. The room smelled kinda funny, i think due to that... And the bathtub drain was SUPER SLOW. So I ended up standing in ankle deep water after a long shower after the beach.

Place is a dump. Elevators were messed up a year ago, and this time one was out of service. The repair guy rolled his eyes when I asked if they would be fixed this time, as if to say “nope, this cheap hotel wont just replace it”. Don’t stay here unless you like standing around waiting for the dang elevator all the time.

There were a few bumps with this experience. Hotel had only one elevator and understaffed. Despite that we still got our warm cookies and the jr suite is perfect fit for our family of 4. We were going to the zoo and legoland and this hotel was in between both.
