Description

Spittal Inn offers a diverse experience for diners, from delightful meals and attentive service to some disheartening encounters. Many patrons rave about the generous portions and quality of the food, especially the carvery, which features locally sourced meats and mouthwatering vegetables. The outdoor seating benefits from thoughtful landscaping that mitigates nearby traffic noise, fostering a pleasant atmosphere. However, some guests have reported unwelcoming interactions with staff, including the owner, which significantly marred their visits. For families, improved communication regarding child policies could enhance the overall experience. Despite the uneven reviews, the restaurant remains a potential gem for future meals.

We visited Spittal Inn for a weekend in October and found the food and hospitality to be excellent. We stayed in our Campervan in the well maintained field at the rear of the pub and ate in the restaurant on two evenings. The menu comprised traditional pub food, nicely done, sensibly priced and with attentive service. This is a lovely spot to stay, is just a short drive from Filey and is a well placed stopover for those travelling further up or down the coast. Highly recommended.

This restaurant was a nice place to dine, we took advantage of the early bird menu which was great value for money. The service was spot on and the portions were huge.

Rang to book table for 6 but later changed to 8 they were extremely helpful. We sat in snug. They were quick with table service of drinks and the menu was big enough for everyone to find something to eat. Never been before but definitely come again. Pub grub was lovely and tasty. Exactly what I was expecting and more lovely place.

Visited over easter break with family, the bar was child and dog friendly. Food excellent. The little shops attached where lovely and we came back next day for breakfast in the cafe. Will be visiting again and possibly staying on campsite too.

Me and my family visited her this morning, we are local and had never been before so decided to give it a go. We went to let the children have a play in the playground before we went in for something to eat. There was a Large wooden Fort with a large slide which my son was playing on, and he wanted his dad to go up and have a look and go down the slide. Now my husband is in no way a large man, and as he was coming down the slide, a man out of nowhere appeared shouting at us saying would you pay for that if you broke it, no you wouldn 't, your sort don 't, you 'd just walk away . I asked him what he meant by our sort, but all we got was a barrage of abuse. This was totally unacceptable in front of my children. We then said we were going to go in and have lunch but wouldn 't bother beacuse of his behaviour, and he said good, you should just go. Had we been behaving like louts I would have understood. But to speak to us like that was totally out of order. So I can 't comment on food, as we didn 't get that far! What made things worse was this man was the owner of the place. Needless to say I will in no way reccommend or visit this asstablishment again.
