Picknics keeps making the top of my list, never letting me down for the quality and flavours of their meals. I've made this the prefered choice of local venue for brunch. They will always have specialty dishes of the day along with their standard menu and the good size meals. The coffee is always perfect. The staff are always happy and it is continually filled with patrons - as if that's not a good sign of a good ven... View all feedback.
What Miller Kuhlman doesn't like about Captains:
We stopped in for our morning coffee.. And it was just right. Great little store as well as with lots of goodies to take away. We stayed for pancakes which were fantastic. Friendly staff which is always a bonus. View all feedback.
Really good coffee. This place was packed so would go back for a feed at some point. The take away Coffee was sensational. Service with a smile. Went back everyday over the long weekend. Standard blend was perfect.
Picknic's is very hipster with a vibe that's straight out of Melbourne's inner north. It's got the whole retro furniture, grunge thing happening down pat. Fortunately, this isn't matched with a "too cool for school" attitude among the staff, who are all friendly and helpful.OK, so it's a scene, man, but how's the food? Picknic's is a breakfast and lunch place. We enjoyed both there recently, and gave it a strong thumbs up. The breakfasts were well cooked and generous in size. There's a strong emphasis on fresh stuff here, and a lot of veggie options. Having said that, they don't skimp on the bacon and other meaty delights. My eggs benedict was great--the eggs were poached to perfection and the hollandaise was terrific. Even their sourdough toast is above the norm.I'm a decaff drinker, and here they make one of the best I've had, served with a little side glass of mineral water, which is a tad pretentious, but a nice touch. My wife enjoyed her skinny latte.Service was fine, and prices were reasonable. The decor is weird, but if you're used to post-modern inner urban industrial retro-chic, you'll slot right in.This is a popular place. On weekends, you can struggle for a table, even outside of tourist season. They also offer great takeaway and some artisan groceries.PIcknic's is a really cool place, and probably the most popular cafe in Rye. They've implemented a very nice business model; well done, them.
Although I had just passed through for a coffee. The place is buzzing with excitement and friendly faces.Coffee was pretty good, considering how manic summer is here in the heart of rye.Well done to the baristas. Will be coming back for a bite to eat sometime soon
Have only had great experiences here. Food is spot on. Only problem sometimes too busy, but recommend for breakfast or lunch
