What Salina Leon doesn't like about Dig:
The food provided by the restaurant for my company was terrible! The sides of carrots and broccoli were burnt. The supposed Mac and cheese was not the best; it was sweet and had some kind of sauce on it. The chicken was probably the best thing on the menu, but even that was a little dry. The delivery service was okay. Overall, I would rate the food a 2 out of 5 for lunch. View all feedback.
I had just visited a potential college for my teenaged daughter and my family became very hungry. Among the local restaurants that I googled in the local area, this one promoted itself as a farm to table establishment. This got me curious since I 'm always looking for more wholesome food that is often hard to find. From the facade, it was not obvious that this place was a restaurant, but once we went in, the atmosphere was very inviting with an industrial, yet homey feeling to it. There was one long, but fast-moving line where customers could order a Marketbowl that consisted of several different ingredients that fulfilled all the food groups. The menu also listed all the farms that the food came from throughout the United States. I ordered a custom-designed bowl of Classic brown rice, Grilled Organic Tofu, Broccoli with Sesame Crunch, and Kale with Cotija and Corn Salad. It was absolutely delicious and nutritious and for about $12 for the whole bowl, a great deal. From what I read, this place is now a franchise, but none of their locations exist anywhere in the New York City area. I hope that this business continues to do well so that they will expand into an area that is closer to me.
While a bit expensive, I absolutely adore the food at this restaurant. It's healthy and reminiscent of California cuisine. I wish there were more places like DIG in New York.
I typically don't write reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so unexpectedly negative that I felt compelled to share. The food was okay, but I strongly advise against ordering pickup from here. It appears that they falsely indicate orders as ready to quickly handle busy periods without actually preparing them on time. They won't start making your food until you arrive, and if the person with glasses at the cash register is there, they may give you attitude if you are unsure about the status of your order. I understand that restaurants can get hectic, but this is not an efficient way to manage lunch rushes. As someone who has worked in several food service jobs, I can say that the person at the register was one of the most unwelcoming and rude individuals I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Making sarcastic remarks to customers with valid questions is highly unprofessional. If you can't handle the pressure, maybe you should reconsider working in the hospitality industry.
