What xydancer doesn't like about The Willows Coffee Shop:
The coffee at this restaurant is truly excellent, as are the cakes and other menu items (I highly recommend the bowl of chips). However, the atmosphere seems to have changed from being very welcoming to somewhat unfriendly. There is now a lectern blocking the entrance and a one-way system in place, although its purpose is unclear. One group had to raise their voices to get any staff attention. Despite being given onl... While the cakes appeared appetizing and the coffee was satisfactory, I was taken aback by the owner's incredibly rude behavior towards me on not one, but two occasions. A simple smile and a warm welcome would have been more than enough.
Been meaning to visit for some time so my wife and I called in today so I could have a full breakfast. Cafe looked clean. Welcomed as we walked in at a lectern, by one of the waitress’s and handed a menu. Waiter service at the table. One way in, another way out. Very good in these unsure times. My breakfast was lovely, with all the works on offer. My wife had a bacon baguette, with three rashers of bacon. Coffee extra, but very hot and tasty. Quite a longish wait for the food considering there were only another five customers. Overall we would visit again . Glad we tried it before Lockdown looms after Christmas.
A meet-up with friends for coffee and a natter. A popular place, and since Covid you have to wait to be shown to a table. We arrived at the end of lunchtime and some people were turned away.
I stumbled upon this charming coffee shop near Barlby during a lunchtime walk, and what a delightful find it was. The service was friendly and attentive, even our dog Harley McKay was served water. We had to sit outside with our pup, but the weather was lovely and the surroundings were clean and neat. I enjoyed a delicious homemade soup, while Pete McKay had a hard time choosing from the wonderful selection of paninis. Although there were tempting hot meals available, we had dinner plans for later. However, we couldn't resist the homemade cakes on display and ended up taking some with us. This visit truly brightened our day and we are looking forward to returning. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Visited again yesterday. Myself and my friend only ever have latte coffee. Go here probably every 6 weeks. Efficient and friendly service. Served at your table. Cakes look too die for, but not able to have them as one of us is diabetic. Restaurant very quiet, post Christmas. Try this place, especially now when it’s not so busy.
