Came in here for the first time and enjoyed it. I'm more into basic Japanese-style shabu shabu, but they also have other Chinese hot-pot flavors as well. Large size is the way to go even for children, as my 6-yo finished one all on his own. Staff is very nice and very attentive to your needs. Not too crowded and crazy like other places around Rowland and Hacienda Heights. Quiet, quaint, and family-friendly. Will be b... View all feedback.
What Kat Y doesn't like about Shabu Haru:
i already put 2 people on the waiting list and by the time we got here and yelp said we are still on the waiting list and she doesn't wanna take us seated. business hours said closed at 3:00pm we got there 2:30pm all she want is get off work! that's horrible service!!! View all feedback.
Still my favorite place for hot pot... the sauces and broths are sooo delicious used to come for the ayce but I'm not sure they do that anymore but soft d shell crab and the fried fish balls filled with roe and beef sushi are my go to appetizer dishes

Took 20 minutes to be seated which is entirely fine. What wasn 't fine was 20 minutes just sitting at our seats with no broth, no waitress or waiter taking our orders, no water; nothing. Not even napkins. This has got to be one of the WORST hotpot shabu spots in the area. Don 't even bother getting AYCE because its round based but for $5 more you can get unlimited orders! They offer their premade vegetable bowls for guests that include all of the AYCE items like vegetables, ramen, udon, and other starches but seem to lack the drive or urge to serve specific vegetables separately. The vegetables are supposedly ayce but when I had ordered Napa cabbage, it took nearly 10 more minutes just for a plate of it. Overall the servers don 't seem to care especially when the party is larger and they have an INCREASED 20% gratuity fee included in the bill. Pretty much gives them zero incentive to work hard and provide a mere decent service. Place isn 't worth your time, you can find other restaurants with better service and more to offer. Will never come here again, and if anyone is in the area I highly highly highly recommend CHUAN POT instead, in Diamond Bar. A real AYCE.
Important Note: This restaurant only does AYCE on Mon-Thurs! We came on a Friday disappointed there was no AYCE, but ended up leaving satisfied anyways. We initially stopped at our favorite place Momo Paradise to find the wait would be 2 hours. We looked at Yelp to find this place was close by and also AYCE so we went. No wait! Turns out there was no AYCE for weekends but we were so hungry we decided to do it anyways. If you're looking to eat a lot, I highly recommend the Ribeye for 2. There was plenty of meat and the presentation was really cool! The service was alright. Another understaffed establishment. But I felt for the most part they were very efficient in the way they delivered and prepackaged some of the shabu items. Overall, it was satisfying shabu shabu and I wouldn't mind coming back.
