What Robin21170 doesn't like about La Berteliere:
My expectations were quite high having read some of the reviews but I was very disappointed by both food and service. Food would have been absolutely fine if you were in a cantine but there was absolutely nothing subtle about the cooking. It tasted mass produced and just disappointing. The 2 waiters during the evening were not friendly nor engaging (I am French so language was not an issue). Bare minimum. I had to as... View all feedback.
We had originally booked for the st silvestre evening and accommodation, but unfortunately covid has changed our plans so that we booked for the eveningee dansante on the 26th march, not to know what to expect. we would not have asked for a better event and will certainly return even though we live in the indre. we have booked two nights, the first we the hotel restaurant and the second was the eveningee dansante, which included a meal. the first night meal was good, although in future we would go for the lower price menu that i think offers better price-performance ratio. the room was excellent with all the small tasty that they would expect, including refreshments. the eveningee dansante was excellent with an absolute full and variety of food and good service for those races that need a waiter for the table. the entertainment of l’echo stars was brilliant, a great selection of music to suit any taste, we had certainly the impression that the singers enjoyed their work. we gave up before midnight, but others danced long after our departure. the breakfasts were satisfactory, but need a little work up to 4 stars standard. we were told that the hotel was recently awarded with 4 stars and we see that significant investment has gone into the building. four star status, however, brings 4 star requirements and i hope that management will continue to focus on improvement, as some smaller objects require attention and renovation to fulfill this 4 star status. reserved for the evening and the accommodation of spur, but unfortunately, covid has changed our plans, so we reserved for the dance party of March 26 and we could not dream of a better meal the first evening was good even if in the future we would opt for the cheaper menu that, I think, offers a better value for money. the room was excellent with all the little treats that can be expected, including refreshments. the dance evening was excellent with absolute abundance and a variety of dishes as well as a good service for the courses that required a towel for the table. The animation of the echo stars was great, a wide variety of music for all tastes, we had the impression that the singers liked their work. we left before midnight but others continued to dance long after our departure. the were has been limited to the need for a little work to be at the height of a 4-star. We were told that the hotel had only recently been awarded 4 stars and we can see that considerable investment was spent on the building. the four-star status brings 4-star requirements and I hope that the direction will continue to focus on improvement because particular minor elements require renovation to meet this 4-star status.

We booked this hotel for a one night stop on our return from the South of France. On arrival they had at least 3 parties booked. The restaurant staff were minimal (2 and over worked. There were less kitchen staff than expected (hotels words which mean 't that there were delays in service and quality. My daughter was vegetarian and although pre booking a meal her food was very much 'tinned ', 'frozen ' and put together. I ordered a simple beer (Heineken and was given an Affligem in a Heineken glass (life has its bonuses! . The room was musty and needed a good airing, no A/C and 34c exterior temps made for a sticky nights sleep. The hotel did offer an apology and provided some discount on the bill. Would I book and stay again alas no! I suggest that the hotel consider what they want to do functions, or accommodation not both.

The room was excellent complete with all the little treats you would expect including refreshment making facilities. The eveningee dansante was excellent with an absolute abundance and variety of food plus good service for those races that required a waiter for the table. The entertainment from L'Echo Stars was brilliant, a great variety of music to suit all tastes, we certainly had the impression the singers enjoyed their work. We gave up before midnight but others continued to dance long after we left. Breakfasts were satisfactory but need a little work to be up to 4 star standard. We were told the hotel has only recently been awarded 4 stars and we can see that considerable recent investment has gone into the building. Four star status however brings 4 star requirements and I do hope the management continue to focus on improvement as some minor items require attention and renovation to meet this 4 star status.
