Bosun's Bite - Rother
Bosun's Bite
Description
We are a family-run business located in the serene setting of Rye Harbour, just across from the Lifeboat house. Our charming café is nestled next to the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and River Rother, only a short walk from the beach. Open 364 days a year (closed only on Christmas day), our doors are open from 9am until around 3pm. We take great pride in using high-quality ingredients, sourcing locally whenever possible and preparing every order fresh. Our generous sandwiches are served on the finest bread. We welcome cyclists, dog owners, families with children, and customers with specific diets (please note, we do not currently offer gluten-free options). Free parking is available, a rarity in this day and age. Please refrain from parking in the Lifeboat bays to avoid being blocked in during an emergency. If the Lifeboat crew is called out on a shout, please be patient as our family members are part of the crew. We appreciate donations to the RNLI. Come visit us during quieter times for a personal tour of the station!.

Great cafe, lovely friendly helpful staff with good quality food coffee at a reasonable price. Would highly recommend.
I'm sure this is a lovely place to eat but we arrived on a rainy Wednesday to find all tables taken which is fine but bearing in mind there is a drive for any other cafe it would have been nice for any of the servers just to have said hello and given a little indication of the wait. Rye Harbour means a lot to us as a family so can only be disappointed.
This is an unexpected gem. The food is really really good and the atmosphere very friendly and understated. The bubble and squeak is a must. The coffee really good too! And then there's the walk to the sea to let the food settle........ wow!
Whilst on holiday in Rye, popped into Bosuns Bite for brunch whilst waiting for the tide to come in so the kids could do some crabbing! Busy little place, but fast turnaround and takeaways allowed tables to become free just as we finished ordering. Youngest...
After sitting outside deciding what to order, and then queuing behind two other families, we were rudely told there was no more service. It was 2pm. I wouldn’t mind so much if we hadn’t stood in the queue for 15 mins. A friend in our party has also already ordered before they bizarrely decided they were closing, so it really messed up the afternoon. Food looked lovely but we’ll never know.
