Oishii Japanese And Thai

Thankyou to the staff who looked after my family on Saturday night (7th jan) whilst celebrating my 40th birthday, this little gem of a place is yet to dissapoint....table service was fantastic, our meals all came out with great timing, and food was to die for, this is my favourite restaurant in the Hunter Valley, and a lot of my family had never eaten at the restaurant let alone japenese, and everyone walked away extremely happy with their meals

I went here for my work Christmas party. We had a very large group of sixteen people. The staff were incredibly accomodating, friendly and helpful. There was no problems accomodating dietary requirements or our desire to order entrees separately from mains, the meals were very generous in portion sizes and everyone agreed their meals were incredibly tasty. The kitchen service was really fast despite being busy and catering to such a large group. Our mains came out within twenty minutes of ordering. The atmosphere was lovely on the night we attended. The only change I would suggest is more Japanese items on the menu as it seemed to be mostly Thai. We had wrapping paper and rubbish from christmas presents and bon-bons which we were prepared to take away with us but the staff cleaned it away for us! Overall, we had a great night and everyone was talking about visiting Oishii again. Thanks for a great night!

Oishii has stood the test of time. Whilst the minimalist decor shows signs of fading and age, Oishii continues to dish up the same quality it has been doing for years, nailing consistency where others seem to fall down. The menu hasn't changed, but I don't think it needs to, offering refined versions of your usual favourites across Japanese and Thai cuisines. The duck curry $25.50) is mild, slightly sweet with lychee and keeps the duck the star of the show. <br/ <br/ The pork gyozas $15) are meaty, wrappers are tender as well as lightly crisp fried. The teppanyaki beef $28.90) is my favourite and worth every penny. The meat melts in your mouth and is accompanied with sizzle-plate asian greens, miso, rice and the most delectable butter and umami-rich sauce. Expect real wasabi and a beautiful view if sitting outside. Oishii do a few options by the glass and have a rather modest bottle list making it an easy selection. You're paying what some would deem a premium, that said you're experiencing a premium. Oishii is no local in view, dining room, or food. <br/

Extremely quick and efficient. Friendly staff. No atmosphere though Very noisy. Delicious duck carpaccio, curry puffs and gyoza.

Oishii is located in quite a prominent place in Hunter Valley. To be honest, we were never interested to even try because of the weird combination that they pitched their restaurant as: Thai and Japanese restaurant. However, on this occasion, we decided to eat some rice and noodles as we have already had way too much cheese and bread… and apparently there are little to none options around the area.
