This is by far my favourite restaurant ever.In fact, I love it so much, that I sometimes don't want to tell anyone about it, so it never looses its unique charm.Think of a romantic, old french town restaurant ... it seriously is like in a movie. Exposed brick, authentic, different ... words can't really do it justice.Frank, the owner of this place, will show you the daily changing menu on a gigantic handwritten blackboard. He is one of those passionate, heartwarming people, that are rare to find.Like I said, this review can't do its beauty & charm justice. It is honestly that place, that you thought only existed in movies.

So, if you are... read more As I am a foreigner living in Rostock, it was a real pleasure for me to discover A&E as most of the local restaurants serve heavy and fatty food. So, if you are a fan of this type of food or of standardized chain restaurants, this restaurant is definitely not for you. If you are looking for something special, pleasant for the stomach and for the eye, then this place is the right choice.The menu is not big, but the choice offered has always been enough to choose from. I don't know whether the cuisine is really French as I am not a specialist, but the food is always freshly cooked and nicely served - what you can see on the plate is quite often a piece of art! The oil they serve with home made bread is great. The food is never fatty or heavy. The staff are friendly and fast.The restaurant is inside an old building, so the atmosphere is very special as they seem to have preserved many original features supported by the furniture and ornaments. What I also like is the quiet and relaxing music playing in the background - no stupid radio or TV music. In summer you can have dinner outside in the yard which is good as well, but could be kept a bit better. Another minus is the prices - they are quite high, so it is not really affordable to often have dinner there.

This was the most wonderful dining experience that felt more like going round to your friend’s house. The food was amazing in taste and creativity, great wines, and we loved the concept of not knowing what was coming out next! Thank you so much Frank for the experience and the Rostock history book!
