Can here for dinner with my friend for a quick bite. After 2 hours and chatting to the owner I must say the place is fantastic. Old style restaurant accompanied by typical local cuisine. We were made feel like regulars with tip service. I had the burrata to start which was delicious followed by the maialino with potatoes and a bottle of Vermentino. I would highly recommend this place as a non tourist, local fine food dining. A must for anyone who enjoys local good quality food in an Italian ambience.
Do not miss this in Rome! Take a taxi because it is a bit out from il centro. You will be happy you did! The corniglio with truffles is fantastic. The red wine from Marche is a perfect match. The family running this restaurant are lovely! Book your table. If the restaurant is not full it would be a miracle.
I want to start by saying that the review by another American should not skew your decision to come here. After reading about this place a few years ago in the NYT, I had it on my 'go to ' list. It just so happened that yesterday I found myself in the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, there were many tables available and I was seated at once. I want to point out that Romans, like many other big city residents, are not always the most friendly. I was served, but not fawned over. I ordered from the specials menu, and, noting that I was not a native, the wife repeated my order as if to make sure I knew what I was ordering I speak Italian). I took no offense and said 'yes '. The food was delicious and very well prepared. Roman food can be underwhelming to some, because it does not use a lot of spices. It focuses on the basic ingredients. I was very happy with my meal. When i went to pay my bill, I mentioned to Roberto that I had read about them in the NYT. This was the first he ever heard of it. Seems a shame, that a newspaper would review a restaurant and not let them know. I 'm glad, though, that I knew. Go here, before these people retire.
