We were recently attending a course in the Balzac area, checked into proximity of a place to meet for breakfast first - found out about the Rockin' Horse - which is a bit out of the way and easy to miss, just west of the QE 2 / Balzac overpass and adjoins the Gas Plus station. Great service by attentive lady serving us - Good feed of bacon, eggs and all for under $7.00 - very reasonable for the Calgary area. And help... View all feedback.
What Christine Lebreton doesn't like about Rockin' Horse Cafe:
This is all I could think of. Creepiest owners in any diner known. Made us very uncomfortable. Over priced and terrible food. Horrible coffee, never order the coffe. Never ever order the special. Do not rely on the previous reviews. This was a awful experience in every way. View all feedback.
Wow! Excellent breakfasts! Great portion size and quality. Pies are homemade and amazing! Perfect pie crust. Very impressed. 50s decor is so cool!
We had lunch at this quaint cafe in Balzac. Most people drive by and don't give it a second glance! This may be because it does look a bit hillbillyesque in the front. But once you enter, the space is bright and airy with a genuine "downhome" atmosphere. We had a couple of clubhouses and watched as people came in and exchanged greetings. IIt was like a family and they sat for lunch or ordered takeout. We loved this little place and although I have driven by many times this was the first try of many more to come! Come on folks- keep these little local places alive!
I heard about this place on Airdrie dads. I stopped by for burgher, 7up. Was greatly warmly. You order at counter, lag and then sit. Food was hot, good and fast. Decent portion size. I will be back to try the breaky.
My wife and I have driven by here for 4 years just tried it finally this weekend. Went in for breakfast. At first glance the place is dated and worn with kind of a cluttered look but very clean. We went in for breakfast was very good farm fresh eggs and bacon toast and hash browns. Was awesome and cooked to perfection and satisfied us immensely. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast. The owner was there and told us she has fresh sandwiches and 49 varieties of soup with 3 availability most days. We will be back to try lunch will keep you all posted
