Recommended in Frommer and Lonely Planet books apparently which is why we decided to give it a go. Interesting salt box property and quaint inside. We were seated upstairs and got in just at the right time as it soon became full. I had Cod Mornay which was very salty and had a funny taste to it. My dining experience at Java Jacks restaurant in Ricky Harbour was fantastic. The service was warm and welcoming, and the home-style dinners were delicious. It quickly became one of my favorite spots in the area. I highly recommend it to anyone touring in Gros Morne. Additionally, they offer take-away lunches for your hikes.

This place is an amazing little gem for so many reasons. The staff is very friendly. The food is outstanding creative, organic, locally sourced, and not the usual fare for the area. The owner is a well known chef, and this place is well worth going out of your way to visit. It is also an art gallery featuring many local artists. We went back three days in a row because we enjoyed it so much.
Great food. Friendly staff. I liked the variety of seafood and other items like chicken. We had dinner upstairs but the cafe on the main floor looks great for morning or lunch. Lots of interesting artwork on the walls(for sale).
After a long day of sight seeing, Java Jacks was a welcomed sight!! Service was impeccable and the food outstanding. Cod tongues and Mussels in a pesto sauce to start, and the lobster linguine and rabbit pot pie for our mains. Everything was fresh, and cooked perfectly!! Thank you Java Jacks for putting the perfect ending on a great day.
