This Hilton is older. The elevators are slow and not up to date. They were very slow at breakfast and check out time. The breakfast is good, but there is a rather high charge for the full breakfast buffet. Parking is in front of the hotel and feels secure. Staff is friendly and willing to serve when asked. I would return if the occasion comes about. View all feedback.
What Keith Hamilton doesn't like about Doubletree By Hilton Rochester:
Room was subpar for a double tree hotel. Water pressure was extremely low and the water never got hot. Hair all over the bathroom as well as dirty footprints. Unfortunately house keeping had zero attention to detail.Food drinks: No cold glasses at the bar. View all feedback.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The carpet had not been vacuumed (or was but maybe the vacuum was broken as there was a plastic ring and larger it may on the floor, but the floor didn't feel gritty or grimy), but the bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable. King bed had 4 king pillows (so many places cheap out with tiny pillows, but not here). The staff, especially Katie, was very kind and friendly. Had no trouble getting water or extra towels, and everyone was personable. And of course the famous double tree cookies were hot and delicious. The pool was lovely and warm, and definitely a highlight for us. The hotel is also close to groceries, restaurants, and activities. Even being near a highway, it was walkable outside and super quiet inside. It's an older style hotel, but well maintained and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again. The only real complaint was the breakfast buffet, which was very disappointing. Ours was included with our room rate, but I definitely wouldn't have wanted to pay $15 a head for it. There was mold in the blue berries, the pastries were stale, the French toast sticks were hard, and the juices, except the orange juice, didn't taste like juice, more like watered down tea. Another table sent their juice back. I just didn't end up drinking mine. One of the chaffing dishes was broken, and many of the plates/bowls were dirty. If the breakfast experience could be improved and the carpet a little cleaner, this would be a 5 star stay.
My recent stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that the hotel 's hospitality was non-existent. The entire duration of our stay was plagued by ongoing weddings, and it seemed like the hotel staff couldn 't care less about the comfort and satisfaction of guests not involved in those events. Whenever we asked for anything, we were met with dismissive tones and a clear don 't bother me attitude.Upon entering our room on the first day, we discovered that there were no soap and the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. Requesting housekeeping was met with the same disdainful response, making us feel like we were intruding on their time. They promised to send new towels but failed to do so, forcing us to go to the lobby and ask again. The only redeeming aspect of this hotel was the restaurant in the lobby. The restaurant and bar staff were pleasant and accommodating, providing a stark contrast to the overall attitude displayed by the hotel staff. As a loyal gold Hilton member, I expected to be recognized and receive certain privileges during my stay. However, this hotel chain consistently falls short in acknowledging its loyal customers, and my experience at the DoubleTree in Rochester was no exception. For starters, there were supposed to be complimentary water bottles available, a basic amenity that most hotels offer, but at this hotel, I had to pay for every single bottle of water. Additionally, the $15 myWay food/beverage credit per person, which should have been automatically applied, was not credited correctly. Despite having booked for two people, they only provided one credit, and I had to reach out to them to rectify the situation.Furthermore, I attempted to take advantage of one of the benefits of being a gold member—late checkout. However, my request was met with annoyance and outright refusal, as they cited a big group coming in today. This attitude demonstrated a complete lack of respect for loyal customers, leaving me feeling undervalued and unappreciated. In comparison, my experiences with other hotel chains like IHG, where I hold platinum status, have been much more positive. They make an effort to honor benefits like upgrades and late checkout whenever possible, making me seriously consider taking my business elsewhere. All in all, my stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Rochester was disheartening, leaving me with the impression that Hilton 's commitment to its guests is far better overseas than in the United States. I strongly recommend considering alternative accommodations if you want to be treated with respect and receive the benefits you deserve as a loyal customer.
Rooms were clean! Staff was friendlier than management, even with a fully booked hotel. DCA FINALS WEEKEND. Again the staff was excellent minus the Sunday manager.Nearby activities: Close to food and shopping. In a better neighborhood than the Sports Complex.
Nice rooms for the location. Not much of a view, but walking distance from a few restaurants. Breakfast sucks and the pool was kept cold. Otherwise, desk and cleaning services are great.
I was disappointed that the beds were not that comfortable. And the water in the shower ran out very slow in room 511. But everything was clean, and the staff WAS AWESOME! Every one of the employees that I saw or encountered spoke to me with a smile and were very friendly and more than helpful (especially Anthony at the front desk .We utilized the hotel's shuttle service everyday (for my 3.5 day stay coming and going to the airport, and to some of the restaurants which were too far to walk to. Russell and Cameron (drivers were very nice. The great thing is the location of the hotel to fast food; there is a nice variety in walking distance which was awesome since I was there for a youth conference. I believe my group plans on coming back next year so I hope the hotel would consider purchasing new mattresses before then; we would be ectatic and I would give a 10 on the review! : But I would definitely stay there again.Walkability: The hotel is in walking distance to plenty of fast food, Chase Bank and Job Lot, so that is a great thing especially if you don't have or want to move a car.
