This is my favorite place to eat in all of Roanoke. I am glad they opened back up just recently. We ate there 3 nights in a row. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience or meal here. Everything I have at has been good and the portions are just the right size. View all feedback.
What Donna Cassin doesn't like about Wonju Korean Restaurant:
Beef-Bulgogi was quite simple so I added my own sauce to house to sprout it. that was better when you can handle the heat. the fried rice was good, but a little too much of a strange charred taste. I didn't like all the sweets being served cold (potatoes, zucchini etc.), but maybe that's just how they do it. the food took minutes to order so on. fried dumplings were very good, not fat, but could use more filling. qua... Pork bulgogi is slammin'. Waitress was very friendly and talkative. They seemed very slow on Sunday, but I'll be visiting again during the week.
Beef bulgogi was pretty plain so I added my own sauce at home to spruce it up... Chicken was better if you can handle the heat. The fried rice was good but a little too much of a strange charred taste. I didn't like that all vegetables were served cold (potatoes, zucchini, etc) but maybe that's just how they do it. Food took 30 minutes for take out so order ahead. Fried dumplings were very good, not greasy at all, but could use more filling. Quality of food was good.
I tried this restaurant at the suggestion of my son. Even with my aversion to food touching, the food was fenominal. The side dishes you get with your meal were an unexpected but pleasant surprise. The service was great and for the price, you get a LOT of food. It's hard in Roanoke to get authentic food, but this is spot on. I'm definitely going to have to come back!
Would rubbishing what apparently is the only Korean restaurant in town be like peeing on my cake? Nevermind, we were pleasantly surprised with the food.
Seems there is an area where Koreans immigrated here in the '80's in this part of Roanoke and this is located in that area.
