What User doesn't like about Retro Taco:
the vegan tacos were very disappointing. I paid $22 for two tiny, unfilled (they lacked a protein source) tacos and a glass beer. definitiw not the price worth and I will not return here. View all feedback.
I found the vegan tacos to be quite disappointing. I spent $22 on two very small and unsatisfying tacos that didn't even have a protein source, along with a glass of beer. Overall, I felt it was not worth the cost and I do not plan on coming back to this restaurant.
If you're vegan, Retro Taco offers a couple of options for you. They have strictly vegan jackfruit tacos, as well as deep fried avocado tacos called Woodstock. For the Woodstock tacos, you'll need to skip the chili-lime aioli as it's not vegan, but they have salsas for extra flavor. Additionally, they have a nice selection of craft beers. The only downside was when I ordered their guacamole with chips, expecting it to be vegan, but it had cheese sprinkled on top. However, the owners reached out to me on social media to make it right by offering free guacamole with less cheese next time I visit.
I visited the art museum and decided to try their carne asada tacos. The server was very friendly, but unfortunately, the carne asada was dry and lacked flavor. Even the corn was bland. If you're looking for authentic TJ-style tacos, this restaurant is not it. While some people may enjoy it, I was ultimately disappointed. The location is great with plenty of space. However, there is room for improvement as the tacos were missing avocado.
This place serves a fusion of Mexican and slight adaptations of tacos. Tacos can cost $3 each (premium service). If you like unique and creative adaptations of tacos, this place is for you.Staff were very friendly. Apparently Retro Taco hosts artwork classes. The artwork on the walls is very nice.Retro Taco is a nice place to visit for lunch. Very quiet and in downtown.Parking: There is paid parking a few short blocks away. Keep in mind that Retro Taco is in downtown Riverside.
It took 30 plus minutes for our food to come out. And when it did? *disappointment* This is a $17 brisket bowl lol. Yes, the three pieces of meat in this picture are all that is in the bowl
