Was User at The Whelk a mag?
The raw bar, entrees, drinks, and service were all excellent. We sat at the bar and would definitely return. The only downside was that the noise level from the crowd was a bit high. View all feedback.

Menu not appealing, price point very high, small print on menu about adding tip of 20% and charging (because wait staff has suffered from the pandemic-with the prices of food and beverages at this place, pay staff more) $1 per slice of bread . Entrée portions small. View all feedback.

I loved The Whelk along The Saugatuck Rivet. The menu was very creative. I started with Deviled Eggs and Fried Oysters. They were delicious and our waiter said they were voted the #1 appetizer of any restaurant in Connecticut! My husband had for his appetizer: Octopus with potatoes, olives, paprika, garlic aioli. We both ordered the Halibut, with peas, onions, and lettuce gem. Since it was my birthday we ordered an olive cake with cherries, but it was heavy, and made me feel too stuffed. I was hoping they had a light mousse or creme brulee, but on the whole, their creative menu and drinks were great. They also kept the place very clean, and sanitized between new customers they served. Thank you to my husband, and Whelk staff for making my birthday so nice !!
Incredible dishes. Fantastic Variations and unique preparations. Here the seafood taste so fresh and tender. Delicious. We had oysters, shrimp and a whole grilled octopus. Perfect. At weekends you have to reserve the tables two weeks in advance. But there are some tables with Barockern, indoors and out, can not be reserved. Here you can always get a seat if you wait a bit. Outside there is also a bit quieter than inside. Recommended!
Pricey, but very tasty food. Table water is filtered, not just tap. That is always a good sign.
Amazing staff! Nice by the water restaurant, nice ambiance burrata is amazing mushroom and yolk is amazing fish stew is good cavatelli are good fluka sashimi is great potatoes are amazing Have the westport oysters they are amazing and so soworth it
