The Lemon ground tar and cupcake were half and quarter portions respectively, with weak tea and coffee that lacked refills. The atmosphere was lacking, and there were issues with service during our visit. However, the scones were delightful. On the bright side, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and portion sizes were good. Despite some initial hiccups in service and seating, the meal was cooked beautifully, well-presented, and delicious. The experience was marred only by dining near a man with two large dogs. Overall, a lovely meal at Risley Hall.

Upon our early arrival, we checked in and then proceeded to the bar to get a drink. Unfortunately, there was only one bartender on duty who had just started and was also serving the restaurant. I inquired if the other individual behind the bar could assist, only to be informed that he was underage. After a lengthy wait, we were finally served. When the other couple we were dining with arrived, we informed the waitress that we were ready to be seated. However, she could not locate our booking, even though the man earlier had. After some confusion, we were eventually seated but were initially mistaken for a walk-in table. Despite having booked and confirmed our attendance via email, the waitress apologized for not finding our reservation. We placed our order and requested water, which was forgotten and had to be requested again. Overall, not the greatest start to our dining experience.

The lemon curd tart and cupcake were only half and quarter portions, respectively. The atmosphere was lacking, and the tea and coffee were weak with no refills. Once our tea was delivered, we did not see another person. On the bright side, the scones were very nice and we each got a whole one.

We visited to claim a voucher gift for afternoon tea.. bit unusual as hadn’t clocked the booking I’d made but despite having a wedding to sort out our waitress was very helpful and sorted great pot of tea while food was sorted. Scones were good and other cakes delicious too. Very enjoyable!

We had a Groupon voucher for Sunday lunch and decided to book again at a restaurant we had been to before. The staff were incredibly friendly and professional. Our server Janine was exceptional - we had met her before and it was clear that she truly enjoys her work and strives to make guests happy. The food was delicious and portions were generous. My husband and I particularly enjoyed the mushroom starter. I had the Roast beef and he had the cottage pie, which he couldn't stop raving about. We also shared a chocolate orange pudding for dessert, which was delightful. Thank you Risley Hall and a special thank you to Janine - we will definitely be returning soon. Sandy & Brian x
