The dishes served at Trottus are simply put, delicious. If you love French-Japanese fusion food then please go here, it is superb. Of course not every dish is fusion style, my Alsatian foie gras was excellent, in fact the best of this trip. And the...Lotte with spring onion tempura in a dashi broth with shitake mushrooms and nori was amazing. Flavours subtle and elegant reminding me of time spent in Tokyo during the... What Joeri Deckers doesn't like about Au Trotthus:
A lot of reviews are very very positive. Yes it's good food and yes the service is very nice. However, I think the quality price ratio is quite bad, food and wine paring. I have eaten in the surroundings better menus for less. It's very nice to combine two quisines that I love very much, but it's kind of out dated and not quite there. View all feedback.
This is our favorite restaurant in riquewihr, which we often visited. I had to cancel our reservation for the 1st agust 2020, because the restaurant serves only 2 of the 3 menus that unfortunately have dishes that my man cannot eat. the one that would be good for him was taken from the menu. we had booked our wedding anniversary, but we have to go somewhere else. I only accidentally discovered this, as both the English and the German pages still display all 3 set menus, only the French page has been changed and a note appears on the English page below. according to the German page, the 3 menus are still available. I can't understand why this change has been made, and that has actually made a damper at the weekend in Alsace. not sure that we return when this is the way they treat their foreign visitors.
After so many lunches and dinners with foie gras, which we loved in Alsace, it was so beautiful to get an Asian dinner as well as they hope to get in kyoto! the chawanmushi was as good as I had in okinawa; others...Tishes were as authentic. husband and wife (husband 20 years in kyoto and woman from hiroshima) were great hostes in their very authentic Alsace home.
Chef philippe aubron offered us a majestic menu that invited us to a trip between europa and japan and culminated with a beautiful piece waguy steak. the amazing combination of aromas, textures and colors was made by the excellent service of philippe and his...woman they feel like guests and not like mere customers! a must stop in South-Alsace!
Eating in this restaurant is really excellent – very interesting and wonderfully prepared by the friendly cook and served by its charming woman. the restaurant is cozy and eat the best we had in Alsace. we ate there twice (including our last night) and both times it was great! the chef has lived in japan and his eating is a wonderful mix of Japanese and French cuisine. according to our opinion he earns a Michelin star!
We almost passed this place by when we read the main course was teriyaki chicken. Sounded like something from a high school cafeteria. Believe me this is chicken and there is teriyaki sauce but like nothing you could ever imagine. It was so delicious. This...restaurant provides dishes that are the perfect combination of French and Japanese cuisine. The kind you can get in Kyoto. In fact the chef lived in Kyoto for 18 years and when we mentioned we still remembered our fantastic meal meal at Stefan Pantel there he said, Pantel was my sous chef The menu is limited and you must choose between three set multi-course meals but we enjoyed every bite. The service was friendly as was Chef Philippe who not only cooked but served and chatted with the guests. Really a lovely evening and a terrific meal.
