We started with a salad with grilled goat cheese over toasts. I asked for a meal with grilled sausages, pork cuts, sauerkraut and potatoes. My wife asked for a chicken cooked in wine sauce with mushrooms. The first two were perfect, but the chicken stew...was not tasty. We had lunch at Au Dolder and we were impressed by the fairy tale house that hosts the restaurant. The traditional tarte flambee and the onion soup were our choices for lunch. We had lunch on the terrace overlooking the dreamy streets of Riquewihr. Good choice for a sunny lunch. View all feedback.
We have deliciously eaten succulent dishes in a very Alsatian setting. We'll be back.

To anyone visiting beautiful Riquewihr for the first time, it's worth knowing which are the touristic and which are the classic Alsatian restaurants. Au Dolder is very much in the latter category (also see Le Tire Bouchon, La Grappe D'Or, Brendelstub). Welcoming professional staff and all the classic Alsatian dishes cooked to a high level, with one or two others so there is something for everyone. Portions are substantial and even for three adults two dishes is enough. Good selection of local wines, fairly priced.
Tonight was a little cooler in Riquewhir than last night so we looked for a cosy restaurant! The food here was exceptional! I had the trout which was delicious and laden with vegetables too. My husband had chicken which came in a beautiful casserole dish. The service was excellent also!
Based on hotel's recommendations tried this place for lunch- pretty good, but not exceptional. Then since we couldn't get reservations in another place we went back for dinner. Not as good as lunch. But was ok. Staff was nice, but this place is on the main drag and has a lot of traffic in and out
