Sonic Drive-in - Ripon
Sonic Drive-in
Description
Despite a few standout menu items like the chocolate banana shake and crispy fries, this Sonic location delivers a mixed experience. While some patrons praise the quick service and fresh burgers, others encounter slow or distracted staff and inconsistent food quality—ranging from cold meals to missing ingredients. The beverage selection impresses, though the thin straws detract from milkshakes’ enjoyment. Customer service can feel unmotivated, especially during drive-thru interactions, leading to frustration. Overall, this Sonic reflects the chain’s typical hit-or-miss reputation, leaving many diners uncertain about returning.

I had a disappointing experience at the restaurant. First, I waited over 15 minutes for someone to answer the booth button, but no one responded. I decided to use the drive-thru, and when I got my food, they had forgotten the cheese on my cheeseburger. To make matters worse, there were no milkshakes available that day. The fries were decent, but overall, my time there was underwhelming, especially considering they couldn't even get a regular cheeseburger right. Not impressed.
The customer service was abysmal! They were only taking drive-thru orders without clearly communicating that. The staff appeared to lack motivation. After tasting the food, I can honestly say it was the worst fast food experience I've ever had—though the hot fudge sundae was a small saving grace. Overall, it was really disappointing.
During my second visit, I encountered a similar experience. Once more, I was the only car in line, ordered my food, made my payment, and then waited. This time, a young girl drove up behind me in the drive-thru. The young man working there appeared to know her or had some interest in her, as he walked over to her window twice to deliver her order while I remained in my spot. In the end, she pulled around me and drove off. All in all, I have no intention of returning to this restaurant.
I ordered two footlong chili cheese dogs. The bread was stale, and the hotdogs were burnt on one side, making them tough to eat halfway through. This is the third time in a month this has happened. I've finally learned my lesson—the food here is worse than 7-11.
I keep coming back to Sonic Drive-in hoping to find something on the menu I actually like, but I think it's time to admit the food just isn't great. The tater tots, fries, burgers, hot dogs, and even the breakfast burritos all fall just short of being good. The ice cream is alright, but that’s about the only decent item. This isn’t just an issue with this location either—I’ve found that Sonic, in general, has underwhelming recipes. Nearly everything I've tried at various Sonic locations has been pretty bland.
