Though the decor is simple and service can be slow, many patrons appreciate the depth of flavor in dishes crafted with care. While some reviewers noted inconsistencies in food temperature and presentation, the authentic taste and customization options were praised. Signature dishes, like the Peshawar naan, shine particularly bright. A few diners encountered booking mishaps, but overall, the restaurant's commitment to traditional cooking methods and rich flavors suggests it has the potential to elevate its standing in the local dining scene.
Preview: they can book this restaurant via the website even if it is closed! we came to our reservation last night at 7.30 pm and it was closed! the owner came to the door and said he knew nothing about our booking and had no cook in....Lucky for us the Thai restaurant two doors had availability!
If I were to rate this restaurant on my own, I would probably give it 3 to 3.5 stars. The food was decent, with a Scottish touch to the service. There were only a few tables occupied on this quiet Tuesday night. It took a while to order drinks, even though there were no other customers in the restaurant when we arrived. The waitress was friendly but seemed distracted. The food arrived after a long wait, and while it was decent, it wasn't anything special. The only employee, who I suspect was the owner, didn't offer any assistance to the waitress. It felt like if he had helped her a bit, it would have improved the overall dining experience. Instead, he remained at the bar on his laptop. This was my first time dining here and I don't think I'll be returning. It's a shame because the food was quite good and the location of the restaurant is great, but it's completely let down by the poor service.
I'd rather have to do with Gujarati livelihoods. unfortunately this place does not serve the clasps of the region. Instead, it is mostly Nordic/Punjabi kitchen, presented in a rather distorted fashion. the only taste of gujarat that we have here was the tendency to use much sugar. this is something that works well in proper Gujarati dishes (like Toror-Daal), but fails in things like samosas. gujarati eating is so much more diverse and interesting than here the concept completely lost. the service was irritable and anxious. this could be so much better if it served gujarati eating instead of eating a gujarati idea of punjabi.
The food takes longer as it is made by scratches. it tastes very good. Female staff is friendly and beautiful. owner (uncle) grumpy. it's never busy. I don't understand why they don't prepare it again and bring it to standard, they could be a big little business there. all Indian restaurants in richmond are quite openly lit. I appreciate this place because it's homemade and fresh.
Food not hot. Missing condiments. A bit greasy. Naan definitely not fresh. All around a major under performer. Shame as I believe its a family run place and its good to support that kind of business. Bit unfortunately well under par. Should’ve made the call...when we saw noone else was there and ambience was majorly lacking.
