I visited this restaurant with a friend, and the food was amazing. It was comparable to the paella I had in Granada—authentic and full of flavor. The tapas were also excellent. This place is truly a hidden gem in the Richmond culinary scene, and I highly recommend it. View all feedback.

We also had the luck that the restaurant wine trader ate during our visit at the bar and he went through the Spanish wine selections that were also excellent. we will definitely be back for more.
In my opinion, the greatest test of a Spanish restaurant’s focus on quality is their ability to produce a great Paella. Many have seemingly gotten confused about risotto vs paella. It’s got expensive ingredients, takes some time to do it right (it’s gotta rest to make the crusty goodness fall off the pan), and requires some skilled attention. Yvette at The Wooden Spoon Tapas, Paella, and wine bar nailed it! Yvette and our waiter were personable, attentive, and shared interesting insights about Spanish food and wine. We were also fortunate that the restaurants wine dealer was eating at the bar during our visit and he walked us through the Spanish wine selections which were also excellent. We will definitely return for more.
Recently had a dinner party at the Wooden Spoon, and it was so much fun! Charming cafe, eclectic decor, cool bar. Had shrimp and zucchini Carpaccio tapas, then splurged on Bananas Foster pound cafe all perfectly prepared. Well done!
Excellent food. Great service. I dropped in one evening during an electrical storm, the power had gone out for a few minutes before I got there but they were extremely accommodating and sat me for dinner. The food was great, lots of great options. Very authentic food from Spain.
We had the honor of celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary at The Wooden Spoon. Not only was the food outstanding, the restaurant is a place of pure love! Every item we ordered was delicious!!! Chef Owner Yvette creates delicious, nourishing, well sourced, magical food! We had the zucchini carpaccio tapa, vegetarian paella, along with a limoncello dessert superb! If you haven't made dinner reservations to try The Wooden Spoon, do yourself a favor and DO IT!! You will NOT be disappointed!!
