Sam Miller's - Richmond

Pros: The staff was friendly, and our waitress was particularly nice and attentive. The dessert was fantastic—I highly recommend the key lime pie or the strawberry cake. Cons: Unfortunately, the food felt dated. Our main courses came with bland, overcooked vegetables that didn't have much seasoning, but the portions of meat were huge. The steak sauce was overly sweet, and the rockfish sauce was curdled and too tart for my taste. I was very disappointed with the oyster trio, as the raw oyster and the two cooked oysters were all served at the same temperature.

I can't express how wonderful this restaurant is. My friend, who is an insulin-dependent diabetic, was experiencing a rapid drop in her blood sugar. The entire staff came to her assistance, providing a comfortable space for her to stabilize and consistently checking in on her. They truly went above and beyond. This place deserves more than just 5 stars!

I regret to say that I had a disappointing experience. The service was slow, even though the restaurant was nearly empty on a Monday night. I ordered the crab soup bowl, but they brought me a cup with stale crackers and a dozen oysters, which arrived simultaneously with the soup. For my main dish, I chose the rockfish. While the food was nicely presented, the fish was excessively salty, overpowering any other flavor, and the broccoli was overcooked. The building and location are lovely; I just wish the food had matched the atmosphere.

So we went there last week for our anniversary, and we loved it ! For starters I had the crab soup , it was really creamy and had nice clumps of crab.

I've had good meals here before, but the pepper crusted salmon last night was terrible.
