Best oysters ever (fresh, cleanly shucked with liquor in tact)! One of our favorite spots in Richmond. The food was great, fresh and well prepared. Excellent cocktails. Attentive, courteous waitstaff. View all feedback.
What Ansel Torp doesn't like about Rappahannock:
Immense attitude. Wow. Even though they pride themselves on elaborate cocktails, I was informed by bartender that they don't have clam juice to make a **** Caesar. Even though there are dozens of raw clams on display. On ice. Behind the bar. 6 inches away from the bartender. My playful amazement at such was met with a snarl and angry barking from the bartender. Huh? We got some appetizers, they were decent. Will neve... View all feedback.
Not impressed. early for a show. Originally there were no reservations available to go to an empty restaurant. the escargot ordered. with broth overrunned and can cost nothing other than broth and butter. followed with the scallops. the fire was too hot and all the scallops were scratched. the waiter took it back and the second round was passable, but I have no need, with other options in the opposite back.
Oysters were good. everything else was mediocre. service, eat and drink.
Will not return. I recently sang at rappahannock in richmond. a restaurant with first class service and great seafood I had previously reserved on open table. When I arrived on time, there were two very young people who were writing the maitre d mannten, and both seemed confused and incredibly slow in looking for who should sit and where. two people make a job and do it bad. the nasenpiercings were interesting, but their incompetence came through their nasennasen to the sheer beauty of the pens. once sat, our server seemed hastened and overwhelmed, and of what I observed was him. when my seafood finally arrived (snook) it was raw and I...read more
General staff. we had the oysters several possibilities and they were excellent. the norfolk is particularly sweet, like the roasted carrot salad. the opera was 45 minutes early and we were offered the cash after asking for a dozen empty tables. the bartender said that he had no warning about an opernabate and the Maitre-d was not helpful. we have mentioned that our table and many others have remained empty all the time. they saw and smelled beautiful.
Crapahannock...... I recently had dinner here with 6 people and the food was terrible!! The servers were cold and indifferent. I ordered short ribs and was served a different meat!! When I told the server I had ordered short ribs, she informed me that oh we ran out of ribs so the chef substitutes whatever he has I couldn't believe what I was hearing.. She did say they would make something else to my liking, but everyone's meal was already served. I've been in the restaurant business for years and have never experienced such a place.. Don't waste your time or money!!!!!!
