Müll! that was by far the worst General Tsos chicken I've ever eaten. first I have never been to peter cheng, or whatever this place, but I have heard very good reviews about this place and was happy to let something come into the VCU area. this place is a landfill, looks and smells like ****, and I think of ok diamant in the rough. the huh was chewing and cordy the way she can ask herself if it's really huh, because she never had with this textur huh. the sauce was nasty, very thick and did not taste like general tso. I have lunch special, that was just $9. it was a small part than normal chinese, which is good when it is good. The...read more
Worst customer service ever!!! I would have given them a 0 star but unfortunately that was not a choice. Today was my first time visiting the restaurant (and the last time). I checked on yelp and saw that the listed business hours for today (Wednesday) is 11:30am, so a friend of mine and I went there and arrived at 11:40. We found the door locked and lights only on in the kitchen. Then we saw the sign next to the door showing 12pm opening. Guess Yelp was wrong but still it's the business's responsibility to make sure the correct hours are posted. Since we have nowhere to go for the next 20 minutes and it was pretty hot outside, we saw the owner/chef in the restaurant unpacking something, so we thought we would just knock on the door and ask him if we can just sit in the restaurant and we don't have to order until 12pm To when the kitchen would be ready. So we knocked and he saw us right away, we made eye contact and I waved at him, and he just ignored me and continue to work on his package. Then I knocked again finally he came out and only opened the door a small crack. I explained nicely to him that Yelp showed they open at 11:30 which is why we are early, can we please just have a seat and wait. He pointed to the sign and said open at 12. I said I know but your yelp entry was wrong which why we are here early, we don't have to order until 12, but can we please just have a seat inside the restaurant. He then rudely closed the door on us and basically shut us out. He neither apologized for yelp having the wrong information or apologized for the inconvenience that caused us. I felt like he didn't see us as customers but debt collectors, and he could not wait to get rid of us. This whole exchange was so rude. He never smiled or gave me any facial expressions, apparently he does not care whether I would even come back. Of course we did not, we chose another restaurant across the street and had a pleasant lunch there with real service. But from what I can see at the door (it was a glass door so I got a good look at inside the restaurant), it was a total dump. The place is small, only has 6-7 small tables that seat 2-4 people each. Maybe he only expects to do business with VCU students for take out. I remember on the restaurant website (which was disorganized and hard to find info) it advertised for romantic dinner, that's a joke. There is absolutely no ambiance at all, nothing at all romantic about the restaurant. It's a hole in the wall with bad attitude. Don't go there unless you are ok with being treated with disrespect and total disregard.

Garbage! This was by far the worst General Tsos chicken I've ever eaten. First off I've never been to Peter Cheng or whatever this place morphed from but I've heard very good reviews about that place and was happy to have something coming to the VCU area. This place is a dump, looks and smelled like **** and I'm thinking ok diamond in the rough. Wrong. The chicken was chewy and stringy the kind that makes you wonder if it's really chicken because you've never had chicken with this texture before. The sauce was nasty, very thick and didn't taste like General Tso's. I got the lunch special which was close to $9. It was a smaller portion than normal Chinese which is fine if it's good. The only thing I ate was the spring roll but even that was tiny. I will never go back to this place and feel like I threw my money away. Oh yeah and there was no trash can in the dump of a restaurant, the tables looked they had been wiped down with dirty bath water, and I asked for a cup of water but never got it. Save your money and go eat mall Chinese food it will taste better.
