Kristine's Jamaican Takeout - Richmond

The food at Queen Carenas Jamaican Restaurant is much better in quality and the staff is friendly. However, I found that the Curry goat was too spicy and hard, the rice and peas were bland, and the fried dumpling tasted like it was microwaved. Overall, the flavors did not come through, which usually indicates that the food may be old or leftovers.

The oxtail lacked flavor and was not tender enough to fall off the bone. The rice, peas, and cabbage were average. This was my first and last time dining at this restaurant.

The service was very unfriendly. My friend ordered something she loved, but I will never eat here again. They ordered chicken, rice, greens, cauliflower, and cornbread. My friend only enjoyed the rice. I was expecting the mac and cheese and cornbread, but the mac and cheese tasted like the noodles and cheese were just thrown together without any flavor. The cornbread was good though. If I ever come back, I will only come for the cornbread. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience.

Extremely disrespectful! Numerous patrons were left waiting for over half an hour only to be told at closing time that everything was sold out. I will not be returning. It is frustrating to encounter rudeness at Jamaican restaurants, especially when they are already unfairly stereotyped as such.

I ordered 2 Jamaican-style beef patties at this restaurant, but they were so stale and hard that I couldn't eat them. I tried to return them to get a refund, but they refused.
