The owner has anger management issues and has no qualms about taking it out on customers the way a child would. apparently owning a club means you don?t have to treat people like humans. i was treated so disrespectfully here that it affected my mentalhealth for days afterward. i have never been treated like this by another adult and it was shocking to me and my friends. as aqueer POC i was thought this club was supposed to be a safe space for me but I was severely disappointed.
Excellent bar/club for everything gothy, kinky, and weird (in a good way) that you won?t find anywhere else in Richmond, or Virginia for that matter. They have frequent events that appeal to a wide range of subcultures and the vibes have beenconsistently good across the board every time I?ve been. They?re LGBTQ friendly which is, of course, a huge plus.
This place shields abusers as long as they are friends or business associates. Right, Jackie? If you’re part of the community, I wouldn’t trust any group that continues to host events here.
Overall, I like Fallout. The prices are reasonable, and the food is good quality bar fare—don’t expect gourmet dishes. The place has a bit of a dive bar vibe and a long history of inconsistent treatment of guests. That said, it’s kind of a private club, so they can be as selective as they want. I remember they made it clear that it’s a goth/industrial club, and you’re expected to fit that atmosphere. However, some truly strange incidents have occurred there—just not to me. The rules can be puzzling.
It's clear that the owners or management are deeply invested in their members, as they respond seriously to false claims like drink spiking and permanently banning people without evidence. If you enjoy smelling like cigarette smoke, this is the place for you. Be prepared to be judged harshly by regulars and members if you don’t perfectly fit their scene. The atmosphere feels overpriced, judgmental, and unwelcoming, and when concerns about certain members' abusive behavior were raised, they didn’t even respond.
