Alamo BBQ in Richmond, VA, offers a range of BBQ options that have received mixed reviews. Some customers found the food to be fair at best, with tough and fatty brisket and average tasting meat in the BBQ platter. The limited sides and plastic utensils also left something to be desired. No indoor seating. Good prices. For the rating we we're disappointed... We have had worse BBQ.... but not much worse. Brisket was dry, the pulled BBQ was not not too bad. Only one BBQ sauce, although there were a few hot sauces to chose from. Limited sides. Plastic sporks, and knives are not the best tools for BBQ either. If you're desperate for BBQ... The price may help ease the disappointment.
The first thing you notice about Alamo BBQ is the building. You drive by and think this building doesn't belong here. It really looks like something straight out of Texas. I couldn't help but check it out. Mixed with the amazing smell of the cooker in the back and the fantastic Texas style BBQ, the Alamo BBQ is my #1 Richmond BBQ place. There's nothing fancy which for me is a plus. Walk up to the window and then head over to the outdoor covered and heated dining area to wait. Don't work it doesn't take long. I give Alamo BBQ 2 thumbs up!
Great texas barbeque with lots of creative vehicles for getting smoked meats into your belly. Options include bbq platters, sandwiches, burritos, cubans, texas phillies and more. The sides are so amazing, my favorites include the jalapeño mac and cheese, cowboy beans, texas caviar, and collards. There are sauces and condiments galore.
