Place offers a mix of Chinese food found at popular Restaurants in Richmond ranging from Xiao Long Pao to sweet and sour chicken to spicy dishes. The portions are smaller but very flavourful and tasty! I placed a spoon next to the dish in the pictures below so you can gauge the size. You can request the bigger dishes and also request to make some of the dishes less spicy. The place used to be an old strip mall mainsta... View all feedback.
If you go to Wang Ji at peak dinner time in Richmond (7 pm) you may have to sign your name on the register and the server will call you when a table becomes available. We have been to this restaurant twice within this week because there are so many dishes we want to try. We had Drunken Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork tonight and both were excellent. The other night we tried their famous Hai Nan chicken which was good but not as good as the free range chicken steamed in Chinese cooking sherry. We are already strategizing to see which dishes we will try next time.
I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Chinese restaurants that are rated 3 stars. Wang Ji is one of these hidden gems that deserves a higher rating. This was my first visit, despite living in the neighborhood for over 15 years. My God Sister treated us to a fantastic family feast, highlighting some amazing dishes. The Poached Chicken with Ginger, Garlic Scallion Soy Sauce was a standout, earning a solid 4-star rating. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the accompanying signature sauce was a welcome twist. The Stir Fried Clams in Szechuan Pepper Corn sauce were also a hit, perfectly cooked and full of spice. The Stir-fried Morning Glory with Bean Paste Sauce was another winner, expertly seasoned and cooked just right. With delicious dishes like these, it's no wonder Wang Ji is always busy and in high demand. Lucky for us, we live nearby and can easily make reservations in advance.
This is a very small chinese restaurant in a strip mall. it’s not your fancy chinese restaurant by any means, more like a cafe style restaurant. The serve very good traditional chinese food, the portions are good and the prices are fair. If you like sweet and spot pork they make the best in richmond: crunchy and not soggy like most. they have a very elaborate menu and most dishes are quite authentic. service was good, the waitresses are helpful. i’d recommend this restaurant if you don’t want to do the fancy chinese food and high prices and want a good meal.
The restaurant offers affordable prices, large portions, and delicious flavors. Definitely worth a visit. It can get busy during peak hours, but it is suitable for both individuals dining alone or groups.
Tried this restaurant tonight without any expectation but found it surprisingly good in terms of taste and good value for money. First of all, though they offered xilongbao or Taiwanese food (especially drinks that I haven't tried), I shall treat it more as a Hong Kong style restaurant. We ordered their chicken, spare rib in black vinegar, fried rice and golden sand (salty egg yolks) with melon etc. I should say, not bad but of course can be better if they can make the latter one slightly dried. In short, the dishes with a thumb up inside their menu should not upset you. Lots of parking in the mall (Blundell n Garden City in Richmond). Price is extremely good. Reservation is recommended. One which is good for family and friends gathering for dinner. Definitely will come back
