What Keith B doesn't like about Shiang Garden Restaurant:
I was a guest here of people who didn't understand the concept of vegetarian. Quite clearly this a very popular seafood restaurant but it's vegetarian offerings at lunchtime dimsum are extremely sparse. From the look of the other customers they were enjoying the food, and my table was very happy with the dimsum. The restaurant is large, in an outside mall as is common in Richmond. It is reasonably elegant and the sta... View all feedback.
Order before 11:30, then 20% off on dim sumCame here because we wanted something different then our usual go to restaurantFood was not bad.
Oh how I long for the day that I can be an Alaskan crab as carefree as those living in the Shiang Garden ResortBubbles for days.
Just like the previous Sun Sui Wah restaurant we went to last week, this was another one we haven’t come to in quite a few years. I don’t recall ever coming here for dim sum but we have been here for dinner. We arrived before 11:30 on this sunny Friday morning and had to wait less than 10 minutes for a table. The 2 of us ordered the following 5 dishes:1. Fried scallop with Portuguese sauce (3 pieces for $7.25) – unusual dish that tasted alright. Deep fried dumping filled with mashed and diced taro and scallop pieces; not more 1 diced scallop per dumpling. 3 out of 5 rating.2. Steamed pork shiu mai (4 pieces for $7.25) – very average dish that is extremely over priced. 2.75 out of 5 rating.3. Deep fried shrimp roll with preserved egg and ginger (3 pieces for $7.25) – different and unique taste with the egg. 3 out of 5 rating.4. Rice rolls with spareribs hot pot ($8.80) – Tasty and large serving. 3.25 out of 5 rating.5. Deep fried squid ($8.80) – fair sized serving with sliced jalapenos, moist and tender. 3.25 out of 5 rating. There was a 10% discount for the “regular” dim sum dishes; the first 3 items above. In addition, there was no charge for tea.The total bill after the 10% discount but before tips was $39.03.Ratings Breakdown:• Price and portion size – a bit on the expensive side. 3 out of 5 rating.• Quality – above average. 3.25 out of 5 rating.• Taste – average. 3 out of 5 rating.• Service – good. Dishes arrived quickly. 3.5 out of 5 rating. The overall experience gets an above average rating – 3.25 out of 5.Notes & Tips• Free wifi• Credit cards accepted• Clean washrooms• No pushcarts. Picture checklist order form.• Street level parking inside the mall and there is also a parkade• The restaurant is located in the Empire Mall on Number 3 Road; same mall as Chef Tony another Chinese restaurant.
We ate brunch together with my brother-in-law's family in Shiang Garden. He said that this place is good and he said I had to try it. The place is situated inside a building and we had to use an elevator to go to it. We were happy because we were seated in a bigger table by a restaurant staff because there were still few people. The restaurant is clean and well-lighted. Of course the food was tasty and good, it was delicious! Our orders were promptly taken and served. I was happy with the meal and I will recommend the restaurant for good food.
The teenage kids love this place and the dim sum are good but only not enough hot with some stream dim sum (they're fresh) maybe the kitchen is too far or not enough waitress to take care of the dishes ! And I found the big kids really enjoy the foods there
