The seafood is incredibly fresh. I highly recommend ordering the fishermen’s pot; the butter sauce is fantastic! I just wish there was more toast to go with it. The location is perfect, right at the pier in Fisherman’s Wharf, making it easily accessible and surrounded by wonderful restaurants. What User doesn't like about Shady Island Seafood Grill:
It seems that getting good fish and chips these days is quite a challenge, even at a place that used to be reliable for them. The portion sizes were decent, but the quality was surprisingly poor. I couldn't help but suspect that the fish was frozen and pre-battered, similar to what's found in a Hyliner package. The taste was off as well, reminiscent of fish that had been in the freezer for too long. View all feedback.
In my many years of working in hospitality management, I have never experienced anything like this. I have dined at countless restaurants and have never been asked to wait outside for a host just for asking a simple question. The server's body language and negative attitude suggested that she felt it was beneath her to help us, which I found very unprofessional. Due to this experience, I will definitely not be considering this restaurant for my next visit to Steveston Village.
The food looks and smells amazing, but considering the prices they charge, they really should hire more staff. The poor girl serving us was clearly overworked. It took over 10 minutes just to receive the menu, and that’s in January! I can't imagine how long the wait would be during peak season!

The food at Shady Island is fairly average—nothing too exciting, but the meals are satisfying enough. One advantage is that you never have to wait to get a table, which makes for a much less frustrating experience compared to other restaurants in Stevenson.
The staff is extremely energetic and helpful. Our food arrived quickly, and I really enjoyed their Manhattan-style chowder. There was a group of people nearby...
