This is our favorite place for special occasions. The food is even better than the last time we were here because they have improved their vegetable and starch servings. The asparagus was delicious. The Dover sole is excellent. Our waiter was friendly and super efficient. On Sundays the price of a bottle of wine is 50% off. View all feedback.
Dinner last night was better than delicious, it was scrumptious. We had soft shell crabs and a wine that went perfectly with it. The service, as usual, was outstanding. Chez Max is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond.
Ours dinner and service was amazing! The lamb chops were perfectly prepared with wonderful flavor. The creamed spinach was to die for. My husband who eats nothing green even like it. Our favorite place for a date night!
Anniversary dinner including my stepson at Chez Max was a remarkable evening. We've been over 30 times and felt Chez Max was the logical choice for us. Oliver as the food and wine professional provided a great selection of wines and champagne. He constantly establishes himself as a true professional of wine and cuisine. Good food from the appetizers, soup, salad and entrees, plus we had every dessert on the menu. All in all a very nice time indeed. Never felt rushed even though we were the last table in the establishment. The bill for three including drinks and tons of food was priced accordingly and of course delicious.
Greeted upon arrival, and seated immediately. Offered water and our beverage requests were taken. Our courses were all enjoyed and we never felt rushed nor ignored. Service was attentive and the quality of our meals was splendid. The ambience was perfect for enjoying conversations during the evening dinner.
Yet another triumph of culinary achievement at Chez Max Friday night. From the excellent Sambuca French 75 to the soft shell crab with cream spinach side it was a delightful and delicious evening. Oliver has the food and wine steward knew exactly how to pair for each course from white to red to champagne all via the well stocked wine list. There are places to eat, there are restaurants but there are few places that match the art of Chez Max.
