Description

Located in a picturesque setting, this restaurant offers a diverse menu that caters to both casual diners and those seeking a hearty meal. While many reviews praise the friendly staff and value for money, opinions diverge on food quality. Diners have reported inconsistent experiences, with some dishes delighting patrons through generous portions and flavor, while others fell flat with lackluster preparation and insufficient seasoning. Notably, recent visits highlighted a warm, inviting atmosphere, with attentive service promising a positive dining experience. However, to regain its reputation, the establishment must consistently elevate its culinary standards.

I arrived for Sunday lunch and immediately noticed that it was not very busy (only one other table booked). I was disappointed to learn that they were only serving roast chicken, despite their website showing 5-6 options for Sunday roasts. The food was lackluster - the pizza had a thick base, the half chicken portion was too much, the fish and chips were average, and the steak pie looked like it came from a supermarket. I wish I could be more positive, but this place could be much better if they got it right. On the plus side, they do serve Moretti beer.

We used to go pretty regularly going back 5+ years, always busy, great staff, wide choices of standard special menus. We got there around 5:30, there till 7pm. 6 others came in during that time? The lady in charge was welcoming. No meat or cheese pie, no chicken. We shared an uninspiring garlic mushrooms starter. Wife had a curry dish quite liked it, my fish chips was underwhelming! Chips seemed over cooked fish under no crispy bits on batter. Peas fairly cold! I ate the white fish, tried a few chips some peas. Left 70+ of it? Had a chunk of cheesecake to share. Ltd wine choice. I think this is a chain pub. We used to love going. It needs to buck up!

After reading the reviews regarding Sunday Lunch being the Best Around we were more than disappointed . Unfortunately not happy with the overall experience .. the waiting for over 3/4 hour to be served our main course when no one else was eating and hardly any customers .. no excuse for that at all …. The food seemed microwaved to warm up the meat and over cooked roasts … to top it all food served was not hot yet had to wait for the cutlery for over 5minutes so food was cold by the time we finally got to eat .. it’s a pity really as food critics the reviews we’ve read do not correspond with our experience

The food at this restaurant was delicious and served hot. My companion and I both ordered the roast half chicken, which was plentiful, and the chips had a fantastic flavor. The waffle I had was absolutely amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

Family visit after a walk in Balderstone. Met up with daughters, their partners and four grandchildren all under 7. Jenny looked after us all so well, chocolates for the kids and brought over Jenga for them to play with. Meals for the children were really good and service was as well. Would definitely recommend thank you.
