Reviewed on April 2nd, 2021. Picked up a to go order here for dinner. I hadn't been here since the pandemic rolled in and was doubtful about how good the traditional dine in experience and food would be if taken to go. What Casimer Hartmann doesn't like about Genghis Grill:
As a group of 4, we were greeted nicely at the door and sat quickly but our server took way too long to greet us ~20 minutes) when the place was pretty much empty. The ambiance is lacking, and this style of restaurant felt like a cattle call … Not impressive, but food was good quality and nicely prepared. We really like this restaurant chain, but this location could use some help. We have been coming to the Reno location since 2019. Cleaning and staff friendliness are areas I would start to improve. Our waitress spoke so softly during our last visit that it made it very difficult to communicate. She had to repeat what she told us because it was difficult to hear her over the restaurant noise. As a server she should be speaking louder. Some of the ingredients didn't look very fresh this visit, so I opted to forego some of the meat choices. They no longer have the crunchy Chinese chow mein to top with. I didn't see sunflower seeds this time but I might be getting those confused with how Huhot offers the toppings. The table felt sticky. We will be back but it just wasn't surprising they weren't busy. We were there for an hour. 1 couple was at the bar the whole time. We were the only guests eating until about 10 minutes prior to leaving.
Hmm... no spinach, no chopsticks, I'm sure there's more but it's more like Gary's Grill, less like Genghis...
Every time I arrive at this restaurant the employees treat me very badly today, for example, I arrived and the restaurant was almost alone. I was waiting for the order and it seemed normal to take a chair. The tall employee Moreno approached me to tell me to move from the place because there were other people, which was a lie. Food delivery always takes 30 minutes or more, it's not the first time that's happened to me!! Super bad attention from the employees. I hope not to return
Love the build your own meal. Allows for healthy eating. Don't forget to tip the cook!
Found metal in my food! I went on my lunch break with my daughter and granddaughter and found a piece of metal in my bowl. I immediately notified the server and manager/owner Kevin. He was so rude and unprofessional. Insisting that it was just something that happens, demanding that I make another bowl, and refusing to take it off my check. Now why would I want another bowl? Now that I know your grill isn't properly maintained and leaving metal in the food? He then proceeded to threaten us that if we didn't pay the entire check (including the metal bowl incident) he would call the police? Really? We were two women and a baby? This was the most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen from a restaurant owner? Do better. Your responsibility is to your customers and their safety, clearing missed that part in franchisee training.
